But I thought...

Everyone wanted to be a part of The Devil Wears Prada 2. The sequel is stuffed with stars, adding Justin Theroux, Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Caleb Hearon, Lucy Liu, Rachel Bloom, Pauline Chalamet, B.J. Novak, Patrick Brammall, and Helen K. Shen to the roster alongside returning The Devil Wears Prada superstars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, and Tracie Thoms. But there are a few people who were supposed to be in the film, or people thought would be in the film, and are not. This is your guide to who’s not in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Seriously, there are so many people in this movie. In addition to the sprawling cast there are cameos from athletes like New York Knicks players Karl-Anthony Towns and Rory McIlroy, journalists like Kara Swisher and Jenna Bush Hager, and all kinds of stars including Lady Gaga, Donatella Versace, Naomi Campbell, Marc Jacobs, Heidi Klum, Jon Batiste, Law Roach, and Amelia Dimoldenberg.

There are so many people from the fashion and/or media world sprinkled throughout that you’d think nobody got left on the cutting room floor. And yet…

Conrad Ricamora

Conrad Ricamora, who you know from How To Get Away With Murder and Fire Island, presumably took time off from killing it on Broadway in Oh, Mary! last year to play Andy’s roommate in a few scenes you won’t see in the final product. His entire character was cut in favor of more scenes between Andy and Tracie Thoms’ character—which is ultimately a good thing.

According to Variety, test audiences were confused as to why Andy wanted or needed a roommate. As a woman in media living in New York City in 2026, I unfortunately can’t say that would raise my eyebrows at all. It’s rough out here!

The Euphoria star filmed a length cameo scene, playing herself opposite Emily Blunt’s character Emily Charlton. In the sequel, we learn that Emily now works for Dior and Sweeney is one of her clients getting dressed for an event. It was removed from the film for structural/flow reasons.

Wintour, the quasi-inspiration for Miranda Priestly, did film a brief cameo that was ultimately cut from the final product. That’s for the best, right? Having Wintour and Miranda in the same film might actually break the space-time continuum.

Jessica Chastain

Apparently, Chastain never even filmed a cameo. If you saw photos of her running around Manhattan in 2025, and/or assumed she was involved because of something you saw on social media, that was just a rumor.

The internet decided, in the 20 years since The Devil Wears Prada, that Nate is the biggest villain in the film and maybe all of cinema. So I thought it was fair to assume that he would not appear in the sequel. But people kept asking him if he was coming back! The answer is no, by the way. Of course not.

Other actors from the original movie who did not return include Rebecca Mader, Simon Baker, and Rich Sommer.
