To fans of Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson’s relationship, I am so sorry to break it to you, but it’s over between them. Megan confirmed their split herself in an April 25 statement to TMZ, alleging that the basketball player was unfaithful.
“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” she told the outlet. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”
Megan doubled down on the accusation in an Instagram Story posted to her account, in which she may have alluded to him stalling on an engagement, in addition to inviting her into his family fold, just to step out on their relationship.
“Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house...got “cold feet”…Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don't know if you can be “monogamous”???? Bitch I need a REAL break after this one … bye yall,” she wrote.
Klay’s team, naturally, did not respond to TMZ’s request for comment, and maybe it’s for the best—he’s getting pretty dragged on the internet for willingly messing up what looked like a good thing:
Megan literally opened up about her relationship with Klay in a January interview with People—less than two months after she made his entire family an incredible Thanksgiving dinner from scratch, mind you!—and shared that she felt comfortable dating someone for the first time.
“Well, I don't never want to tell [anybody] to just jump in a relationship just because everybody else got one, and I'm not going to tell you to just jump in a relationship because you have to,” she said. “I didn't even know I was going to be in my relationship, to be honest…This is one of the first times that I've ever been just overly comfortable. I'm comfy, babe!”
