Fans of Practical Magic are well aware that the film ends in the most romantic way possible: Sally Owens (played by Sandra Bullock) gets her happy ending and falls for investigator Gary Hallet (played by Aidan Quinn).
But Aidan wasn’t in the teaser trailer that just dropped (watch above!), and Sally even implies that he’s passed away, saying “Everyone we loves dies.” Meanwhile, Gillian Owens (played by Nicole Kidman) adds, “A really horrible death. But it’s just not great for the Tinder bio.”
Soooo, why isn’t Aidan in the movie? He explained that he wasn’t asked to reprise the role while chatting toSPIN 1038 back in February, but said he would have been down. “I wasn’t asked; I would have said yes, but I wasn’t asked; of course I would,” he said, noting that he had “lovely” memories of performing alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. “They were both great to work with. You know, most of my stuff was with Sandy, but they were both phenomenal to work with. We had a good time.”
As for who in the original cast are reprising their roles, obviously Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock will be back, as will Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest. Meanwhile, Practical Magic newcomers include Lee Pace and Joey King!
