“Do you want the same polish on your toes, or a different one?” my nail artist just asked at my latest mani/pedi. I froze. I mean, sure, the sheer manicure on my fingers is pretty, but isn’t that so boring? There’s a world of nail polish colors out there. Why am I limiting myself to a synchronized shade?
This summer, I’ve been experimenting beyond the classic pedicure shades I always go for (red, black, white—the usual) in favor of a chicer option. And a special color combination looks way cooler than the standard matching. Don’t worry, I won’t send you off into the deep end (read: nail salon) without any ideas. So I’ve compiled six cool ideas that make your mani-pedi feel like an accessory on its own.
1. Ballet Blush + Tomato Red
If tomato red toes are good enough for Kylie Jenner, they’re good enough for me. But it’s even better when you pair it with a blush manicure. Think of it like sweet and spicy—a combo we already know we love.
2. Soap + Glossy Black
The juxtaposition of clean, fresh soapy nails and a grungy, sooty black pedicure looks so elevated. A super shiny black polish helps, so don’t skimp on the top coat.
3. Coca-Cola Red + Hot Pink
Red on your fingers can go sexy or timeless, but it veers into fashion-forward territory the second you pair it with a bright pink polish on your toes.
4. Lime + Cobalt
Seeing this pairing on toes and a pair of flip-flops is enough for me to know it’d be iconic as a mani-pedi. If you tend to appreciate the unexpected, this one is definitely it.
5. Coconut Latte + French
A French manicure on your toes looks extremely elegant, but I especially love it with this of-the-moment coconut milk nail shade. The combo of milky cream with fresh pink and white is like “clean girl” final boss.
6. Reflective Chrome + Butter Yellow
Butter yellow is one of the biggest nail trends of the summer (according to nail artists), but it looks even better on your toes. To top it all off, a hyper-shiny chrome finish on your fingers looks very 2026.
