Did Outer Banks season 5 officially usher in the next generation? Sarah and John B told their friends they were going to be parents in the Outer Banks season 4 finale. Is she keeping the baby, or does something else happen? If you’re down to be spoiled, here’s what happens with Sarah’s pregnancy in Outer Banks season 5.
Madelyn Cline’s character discovered that she was pregnant towards the end of season 4, right before they go to Morocco. Though she seemed firm in her decision, and doesn’t even really consider getting an abortion in season 4, Sarah is absolutely entitled to change her mind in season 5. Though the characters have lived more lives than most teenagers, they’re still quite young.
So what happens with Sarah’s pregnancy on Outer Banks?
Yes, Sarah chooses to remain pregnant in the final season. The action kicks off right where the last season ended, more or less, so she’s not really showing immediately. A family friend named Mrs. Campbell gently urges her to get an abortion and not commit to raising a child until she’s older... but she basically ignores that advice.
We see her and John B plan for a future together as a family of three as soon as they return to North Carolina. At least, they try to given their ever-changing financial and criminal circumstances. She definitely doesn’t have an easy pregnancy. The two get attacked. They go to New Orleans and back. Midway through the season, Sarah gets severely dehydrated. Then a hurricane!
Thankfully, Sarah successfully gives birth in the last episode of Outer Banks. Then, a flashback in the series finale reveals that Sarah and John B waited until a year after the baby was born to get married. Happily ever after?
What do Sarah and John B name their baby on Outer Banks?
Finding literal gold that makes your debts go away after an international crime spree does make choosing to settle down at 20 and 21 seem reasonable and appealing for these two characters. It’s probably quiet compared to what they’ve gotten used to over the course of Outer Banks!
What’s also nice is that the new parents name their son after a beloved member of their crew: JJ, who was killed by his own father, a.k.a. Groff, in the season 4 finale. It’s incredibly sweet of them. Kiara uses her gold money to pay tribute to JJ as well. So, in a way, JJ does come back in Outer Banks season 5.
Who knows? Maybe we will see an Outer Banks: Next Generation in a few years time. Several other characters got engaged in the final season. Stranger things have happened!
