Now that Princess Beatrice and Edo Mapelli Mozzi have announced the birth of their second child, a beautiful baby girl named Athena, it's time for a little rejig in the line of succession for the British throne.
Or, perhaps you're here because you're wondering if Prince Harry is still part of the order of succession list, after jetting off to America? Or maybe you want to see if Princess Charlotte is ahead of her younger brother, Prince Louis?
Whatever the reason, it's always fun to have a nosy and see who sits below King Charles III when it comes to being next in line as the sovereign. To that note, ever since we welcomed Charles onto the throne, many family members were given a new title too (see: Prince Edward taking over as the new Duke of Edinburgh and Prince William becoming the Prince of Wales).
What is the royal order of succession?
The order of succession to the throne is a sequence that is regulated through descent, but also by Parliamentary statute. Since the seventeenth century, the process of choosing a monarch has changed – most recently, through the Succession to the Crown Act (2013) which ended the male primogeniture system, meaning that a younger son could no longer displace an elder daughter in line to the throne.
The monarch can, however, have their title taken away through misgovernment, something that happened to James II in 1688, when he fled the country, effectively 'abdicating the government' and leaving the throne vacant.
So, what's the current order of succession to the throne?
