It's a big night for England tonight (well, right now actually) as they go head to head against Germany in the last 16 round of the Euros. Naturally, Prince William was in attendance at the Wembley football match, being the President of the FA (and a mega football fan himself), but we didn't expect him to have such esteemed company.
As the BBC cameras panned the stadium during the national anthem before the game kicked off, Prince William was seen with Kate Middleton, and none other than the best VIP guest going: Prince George in a cute little suit and tie. Cannot cope.
The seven-year-old future king was the only one of the Cambridge children to turn up to the England v Germany match, which was conveniently scheduled for 5pm, so not too late for a school night. And it's not entirely surprising, really, considering that George appears to have taken in his father's footsteps as a big football fan.
Prince George has been photographed many a time with a football at his feet, and dad and son were even photographed together in October 2019, attending a match between Aston Villa and Norwich City. That was George's first football match, and you could see the excitement on his face, which wasn't quite matched today when the cameras panned past him during the national anthem, of all moments. But come on, he's only seven, and he probably doesn't realise the entire stadium is singing about his Great Grandma.
Prince William has also previously spoken about how he would very enthusiastically endorse any future football playing passions his eldest son might have. While starring as a special guest on That Peter Crouch Podcast last July, the royal Aston Villa fan was quizzed on Prince George's passion for football.
"What if he [Prince George] got really good at football?" asked presenter Chris Stark. "Can he do the job and be up front for Villa?" he continued, in reference to being royal.
Everyone's clicking on...
Before Chris had even finished the question, Prince William replied "Yeah!" William then enthusiastically continued: "Definitely. I reckon he could be their all time goalscorer."
Well, maybe tonight's football match will give George even more of a taste for the sport...
