Update 15/05/2019: The Jeremy Kyle Show has been permanently cancelled, ITV has confirmed. The channel's CEO, Carolyn McCall, said in a statement:

"Given the gravity of recent events we have decided to end production of The Jeremy Kyle Show. The Jeremy Kyle Show has had a loyal audience and has been made by a dedicated production team for 14 years, but now is the right time for the show to end.

"Everyone at ITV's thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of Steve Dymond. The previously announced review of the episode of the show is underway and will continue. ITV will continue to work with Jeremy Kyle on other projects."

The Jeremy Kyle Show has been suspended from broadcast after a guest died, reportedly by suicide, just a week after filming the programme.

The guest has been named by newspapers as 62-year-old Steven Dymond, who appeared on the ITV daytime show with his partner following allegations of cheating. Steven was subjected to a lie detector test as part of the episode, which he is reported to have failed.

ITV has released a statement in regards to the death of the guest, confirming it will be conducting a review "given the seriousness of this event".

"ITV will not screen the episode in which they featured. Given the seriousness of this event, ITV has also decided to suspend both filming and broadcasting of The Jeremy Kyle Show with immediate effect in order to give it time to conduct a review of this episode of the show."

The Jeremy Kyle Show, which has been running since 2005, usually airs on weekday mornings at 9.25am, however it was replaced yesterday with a re-run of Dickinson's Real Deal. It will continue with this amended schedule until the review has been carried out.

MP Charles Walker, who has previously spoken in public about his experience with mental illness, has urged ITV to cancel The Jeremy Kyle show permanently. The politician said it would be an "extremely sensible" move for the channel to decide the programme "has gone far enough".

The show's presenter, Jeremy Kyle, has not yet publicly commented on the incident.
