Amongst the abundance of spring/summer 2026 trends the fashion industry has spoiled us with this season, two of our favourites are easily chocolate brown and polka dots. No shade to the other colourways cropping up right now – cobalt blue, pale pink, lemon yellow – but IMO, the wearability of a neutral hue combined with the luxurious feel of the depth of shade cannot be overlooked. As for polka dots, there's no denying the timelessness of this spotty pattern that keeps it on our radar year after year.
So, imagine our delight when we spied a coordinating two-piece set on the high street that combines both chocolate brown and polka dots in the best way. We're talking about Primark's shirred crew neck top and tiered maxi skirt.
Consisting of a short-sleeve, round neck silhouette, this is no basic t-shirt. Along with puff shoulders, the bodice on this design is detailed with shirred gathering across the entirety of the chest and waist, creating a textured look with a close – but, crucially, flattering – fit. A peplum-style hem gently flaring from the waist perfectly finishes the softly voluminous number.
As for the second half of this co-ord, the mid-length skirt echoes the gathered design of its counterpart with three tiered layers that serve to add flowing movement to the A-line style. Both the top and skirt are decorated in an all-over cream polka dot print atop a rich chocolate brown base colourway.
As well as making a playful addition to your wardrobe, the two-piece's sophisticated cut adds an element of elegance that will have you looking polished and put-together when the set is worn as intended. Of course, you could also style this co-ord separately, too.
Try the polka dot top with jeans for a more dressed-down take, while the skirt will work just as well with a cream camisole and sandals come summer.
Everyone's clicking on...
And we haven't even mentioned the best part – with the top priced at £12 and the skirt at £14, this entire set looks far more expensive than its affordable £26 total price tag. We can always rely on Primark to come through for stylish, affordable fashion.
