Already this year, it feels like we've cycled through ‘It’ colours at an alarming speed. From burgundy to brown, pale pink and cobalt blue, the fashion cycle seems to be declaring select statement shades at a higher than average rate compared to previous seasons. So, is it any wonder that yet another colour is gaining momentum as we approach spring?
Introducing: lemon yellow. Even if you don't keep up with the latest trends, there's no chance you could have missed the fact that butter yellow dominated wardrobes for the past two summers. From outerwear to accessories to wedding guest dresses, the sunshine hue was everywhere. But for spring 2026, the high street is favouring a softer take on yellow. Take Next's lemon yellow linen-rich herringbone collarless jacket, for example.
An effortlessly stylish way to nail the trend, the jacket features a collarless, scooped round-neck, flatteringly cut to sit beneath the collar bones, and a fit and flare silhouette that further highlights narrow waists with the addition of an adjustable back cinch. The button-down front is completed with mismatched gold hardware, a subtle detail that elevates this design an extra notch or two.
Given ‘Cloud Dancer’, a gentle white hue, was named Pantone's colour of the year, perhaps it's no surprise more neutral tones are emerging across the rainbow. Luckily, that means they – including lemon yellow – are super wearable! Treat it as a more vibrant version of cream, working well with other neutrals as well as blues, greens and pinks.
As for this jacket in particular, its designer-inspired style oozes elegance, making it ideal for dressing up denim. Think of it as a chic upgrade to your ‘jeans and a nice top’ ensembles. Or, for something a little more formal, it works just as well with a satin slip skirt.
