I’ve been shouting at anyone who will listen: jewellery is the simplest way to update your wardrobe. If you can’t swing an entire closet upgrade every season (umm, who can?), then at least investing in a few key accessories can make everything you currently have feel so much newer and now-er.

So, you know about alllll the autumn winter fashion trends across clothes, shoes and bags this season, but what were the AW24 runways saying about jewels? Well, you’re going to want to get your hands on ’80s-looking pieces that could have come straight out of Princess Diana's jewellery box – yes, flashy button-esque styles and bold colours are back. You’ll also want to pick up a few wearable pieces of art, aka sculptural, metallic pieces (just scroll below to see what I mean). Loading up on pearls and pendants is also not a bad idea.

Keep reading to learn more about each of these trends and shop them now. Happy accessorizing!

This style of chunky jewellery is one of the biggest trends for this season and maximalists everywhere are rejoicing. My favourite thing about these is the versatility. These styles are so big and beautiful, you can use them as pins and brooches to jazz up jackets, shirts, scarves and dresses when you don’t have them in your ears. Saint Laurent and Hailey Bieber are big fans, and we can see why!

Bottega Veneta

From Bottega Veneta to Tom Ford, long necklaces with statement charms (on both metal chains and cords) totally reigned the AW24 runways. This is the perfect piece of jewellery to pair with something flowy – did someone say boho revival? – or to dress up a plain outfit with an eye-catching accessory.

These precious gems have been, and always will be, timeless additions to any outfit. Forever and ever, amen. They’ll never go out of style, because how could they? Just look at them! And designers are doing such pretty things with pearls these days, I don’t know why anyone would want them to not be trendy. Pearls just add a touch of elegance and softness to any look.

Don’t shy away from super-vibrant jewellery in autumn 2024. It’s the best way to add some depth and a subtle pop of colour without going overboard. Silver, gold and clear stones are nice and all, but I think we as a society are ready to embrace more. Pair exciting tones together and see where the accessories take you!

Okay, I know I just harped on silver and gold a bit, but I didn’t mean these silvers and golds. Museum-worthy, architectural statement pieces are where it is at as far as autumn 2024’s jewellery trends are concerned. Give me the abstract shapes! The big, bold silhouettes! This is the look for people who want everyone to see the jewellery first before they even take in the rest of your outfit.
