The sun might have put his hat back on and scuppered our carefree summer plans, but we can get over it because this week has brought excellent news. Two of our favourite brands are collaborating for the first time ever: yep, Shrimps has just teamed up with Daisy London to bring us a jewellery collection.
If you haven't heard of these two female-led labels, let us enlighten you for just a sec. Shrimps is the London-based luxury brand beloved for its rainbow faux-fur and whimsical take on womenswear; if you've treated yourself to a pearl bag or Pilgrim collar blouse in recent years, this is 100% where those trends originated.
Daisy is another London-based brand (clue is in the name) – and one of the first demi-fine jewellery labels out there, we hasten to add. Early fans of the brand, which launched in 2009, included Cara Delevingne, Sienna Miller and Kanye West (yes, really).
We're always here for a dose of girl power, so to hear Hannah Weiland of Shrimps and Ruth Bewsey of Daisy London had joined forced was music to our ears. The duo has a lot in common: they're both business owners and founders, not to mention mothers. And, according to our sources, they hit it off immediately.
You can see the harmony of this relationship in the collection. There are 21 pieces of *perfect* jewellery made from recycled gold and silver. There are pearl-adorned studs and hoop earrings designed to be stacked or worn solo, delicate chains threaded with yet more pearls, as well as charm bracelets and necklaces that you can mix and match to personalise.
It's the rings in this lineup that are really doing it for us, though. There's a logo-stamped style with the words 'DAISY' and 'SHRIMPS' in bold capitals, which offset the slender beaded floral styles nicely. And the '90s-inspired chain mesh style centred with a belt buckle is pure genius. If you buy one thing from this collection, make it a ring (although we loveee the way they look layered up, if you can add two or three to basket).
Die-hard Shrimps fans out there will know the brand already offers playful costume jewellery – think bejewelled floral earrings and faux-pearl necklaces – as part of its main collection. However, this is the first time the brand is offering fine pieces made from precious metals.
Shrimps is actually celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. So this collection couldn't feel more timely. Perhaps it's even paving the way for a new chapter for the brand... Here's hoping for a second and third drop, people!
