ICYMI, Selena Gomez shared a powerful Instagram snap of her in a swimsuit, with a caption about being proud of her visible surgery scar - and got an outpouring of praise from fans in the comments.

Selena has been battling with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease, since 2013, and in 2017 received a kidney transplant from a friend as a result.

In her Instagram caption, Selena wrote, 'When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar. I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through...and I’m proud of that.'

In the swimsuit photo, Selena turned her leg out so that the scar is visible, and she's wearing a blue one-piece swimsuit by LA brand la'mariette. The brand is by Selena's friend Theresa Mingus, who she congratulates in the caption.

Said Selena, 'T - Congratulations on what you’re doing for women, launching @lamariette whose message is just that...all bodies are beautiful.'

The swim brand's body-posi message is in line with Selena's inclusive vision for her new Rare Beauty line, too. The range features foundations and concealers that come in an impressive 48 shades, and is helping raise money for her mental health charity.
