For the sixth largest country world in the world, Australia sure does seem small, or at least the dating scene does, as it appears 10, yes 10 of the cast of this year's Married AT First Sight Australia already knew each other before the show.

The show is designed to bring together couples who see each other for the first time on their wedding day after being matched by a panel of experts. However, this year's series, featured not one, but two couples who already knew each other, a first in the series' history.

But it doesn't stop there. There's been many other connections too, so let's do a deep dive shall we?

Kicking things off with one of the series first couples Carina and Paul. They shocked everyone when it was revealed after they said their vows they had in fact already dated.

The couple revealed they had matched on a dating app several months prior and gone on a hiking date. However, shortly after the date Paul ghosted Carina as he wasn't in the right headspace to date.

After the initial shock wore off, Carina was happy to get to know Paul again and if anything it helped grow the pair's connection.

And Paul's connections don't stop there. Later on in the series we come to learn Paul previously dated Awhina's twin sister Cleo.

There were no bad feelings between the pair and the relationship didn't last long, with Awhina shedding light on the situation explaining: "They're both from Perth and they were very casual, it was a couple of years ago, very short-lived."

The other married couple who knew each other before the series were Rhi and Jeff. When they met down the aisle they both laughed out loud and were stunned to see each other.

Before they tied the knot they revealed they had dated for several months, but things fizzled out and they remained friendly.

Rhi and Jeff chose to get married and honestly things seem to be going well for them so far.

This week's episodes of Married at First Sight Australia introduced us to new couple Teejay and Beth. The couple got on instantly, but it appears Teejay already knows one of the other brides.

According to a report in the Mail Online, Teejay and Jamie have previously slept together when they were teenagers in Adelaide. A source told the publication Jamie revealed their connection while at Teejay and Beth's wedding, however the moment was cut from the final edit of the show.

Dave and Sierah

Ok now this is a curveball. Jamie has recently revealed during a radio interview with Robbie and Carly that her MAFS husband Dave, had previously dated fellow participant Sierah.

"Dave may have been on a date with Sierah six years ago," she told the station. "Dave had told me prior to [the first Dinner Party], because Sierah had been leaked [as a participant]. I was like, I don’t care if you’ve had sex with her upon entry, like I’m cool. And then Sierah came up to me immediately at the first cocktail party and told me but it was just so funny because it’s like how small is the MAFS world."

See, Australia is a very small country (despite it's area being 7,688,287 km2).
