Right now, there's only one show taking over our TV screens and group chats, the incredible Netflix drama Adolescence. The four-part series, with each episode shot in one continuous take, looks into the case of a 13-year-old boy who is accused of murdering a fellow teenager girl. It's harrowing, heart breaking and a must-watch.

It's created from the minds of Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, who were inspired to write the series after Graham read about two different incidents of young boys stabbing girls in different parts of the country. However, one person who is also key to the success of the series is Graham's wife and producing partner Hannah Walters, who both stars in and executive produces the series.

So consider this your guide on all things Hannah Walters.

Who is Hannah Walters?

Hannah Walters, 46, is an actress and producer. She's been acting since 2006 and has had lead roles in projects such as Whitechapel, No Offence and Malpractice.

Hannah has also worked alongside husband Stephen in a number of projects including Boiling Point, A Thousand Blows and This Is England.

The pair set up the production company Matriarch Production in 2020, which has since gone onto make projects such as the Boiling Point movie and subsequent TV series, A Thousand Blows, music videos including Sam Fender's 'Spit of You' and of course Adolescence.

Who did Hannah Walters play in Adolescence?

As well as working on the production side of things for Adolescence, Hannah also had a role in the series.

She played the part of the teacher Mrs Bailey, in episode two, who is seen speaking to Jade (Fatima Bojang) about her behaviour after she attacked Ryan (Kaine Davis) in the playground.

How long have Hannah and Stephen been together?

Hannah and Stephen met when they were both training at Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance. They got married in 2008 and frequently work together.

Speaking about their relationship, back in 2018, Stephen said of Hannah: "We were bezzie mates. Which is the best way, isn’t it? After a while, we just thought, 'this is daft', do you know what I mean? 'We like each other, we should get together'."

During his Desert Island Discs episode in 2019 Stephen also shared more details about how they got together. He revealed Hannah had moved to Spain for a number of years and so they couldn't see each other. When she returned briefly to England, he asked her out and they went on a date.

"We went to see Saving Private Ryan, had a bite to eat in Greenwich and we were at New Cross train station and I said 'please don't go to Spain,'" he said. "She asked 'why?' and I said 'Well, I love you.' She said she'd been waiting five years for me to say that. And the next day we moved in together. And we've been together ever since." Cute!

They now live in Leicestershire.

Do Stephen and Hannah have any children?

Yes, the couple have two children. They have a son named Alfie and a daughter named Grace. Their children appeared with them on screen when the family took part in Channel 4's Standup to Cancer Celebrity Gogglebox special back in 2023.
