Kate Hudson and Brenda Song teaming up for a Netflix comedy series? Oh we are so here for it. In February 2025 the streamer dropped their latest series, Running Point, which stars Kate as Isla Gordon, who is appointed the president of her family's basketball team after her older brother has a car crash.

Across 10 episodes, along with her right hand woman, Ali Lee (Brenda), Isla tries to prove she is the right person for the job, and not her brothers. But is this series the only time we'll see this dynamic duo in action?

Here's everything we know about a potential season two of Running Point.

Has Running Point been confirmed for season 2 yet?

It's good news for Running Point fans, on 6 March 2025 Netflix (and Kate!) confirmed that the show will return for a second season. Vibe.

"It's official: See you next season," the post on X from Netflix reads, before a video of Kate plays. "A good basketball team owner knows when to listen to the fans," she says. "So we hear you, and so did Netflix. Running Point is officially coming back for season 2!"

Kate goes on: "Thank you so much everyone who watched the show so far. I'm just beyond thrilled because you're really the reason why we're able to come back and do another season. So thank you and we'll see you next season."

What could happen in Running Point season 2?

The season finale of series one left things very open for a second series. The Waves don't win the playoffs, so we'd expect to see the team come back fighting and hoping to win next season.

There's also a lot up in the air when it comes to Isla's love life. The last we saw she made that romantic declaration to Lev and begged him to not leave, but he didn't give her an immediate answer. And then later on she and Jay kiss, but he's supposedly moving to Boston. So who could she end up with?

And then the biggest question of all to answer is if Isla will get to remain president of the Waves. Cam has returned to the office and is keen to pick up where he left off. So will Isla's brothers side with her or their big bro?

Basically, we need season two to answer these questions asap.

Who could return for season two of Running Point?

If the show were to return we'd definitely expect the following cast members to return and reprise their roles:

  • Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon
  • Brenda Song as Ali Lee
  • Drew Tarver as Sandy Gordon
  • Scott MacArthur as Ness Gordon
  • Justin Theroux as Cam Gordon
  • Fabrizio Guido as Jackie Moreno

However there are two big question marks over the potential return of Max Greenfield as Lev Levenson and Jay Ellis as Jay Brown. Both characters are in a love triangle with Isla. However, Jay is supposed to be heading off to Boston, and Lev never gave Isla an answer about being together, so depending on how the love triangle plays out, will determine who returns to the series.
