Ok, we have some very important news for you. It appears Netflix has done the impossible and made a hilarious rom-com series that isn't cringey, or full of tired clichés, and will in fact convince our cold hearts that love does exist. We are of course talking about Nobody Wants This.
The 10-part series dropped in September last year and tells a will-they won't-they story between sex podcaster Joanne (Kristen Bell) and a rabbi Noah (Adam Brody), who meet at a mutual friend's dinner party. Over the course of 10 episodes they (spoiler alert) fall in love, but meet several obstacles on the way, namely Noah's commitment to his religion, which directly opposes Joanne's distinct lack of faith.
The series ends pretty open-ended, meaning there's plenty of opportunity for another season. So will Nobody Wants This return for a season two? Here's what we know.
Has Nobody Wants This been confirmed for season 2?
Oh BOY has it! On 10th October 2024, Netflix revealed a second season of the new rom-com would be coming, and we are absolutely buzzing. Speaking about the news, creator Erin Foster told Tudum, “Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me. To experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed.
"I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls. Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!"
The series ended on a fairly open note, with Joanne and Noah declaring their love for each other and Noah quite literally chasing after Joanne to tell her his feelings. However, they don't exactly resolve the elephant in the room of how they're going to make their relationship work with their opposing religious views, so there's a lot that could be focused on in a future season.
Who's in the Nobody Wants This season 2 cast?
Of course, Kristen Bell and Adam Brody will reprise their roles as Joanne and Noah. We're also hoping to see Justine Lupe return as Joanne's sister Morgan and Timothy Simons as Noah's brother Sasha, as well as Stephanie Faracy, Sherry Cola, Jackie Tohn, Tovah Feldshuh, and Paul Ben-Victor reprising their roles.
And in VERY exciting news Adam Brody's real life wife Leighton Meester, is officially confirmed to be joining the cast for season two in a guest role capacity. She'll be playing Abby, who is Joanne's middle school nemesis, and is now an Instagram mummy influencer. So this essentially means Blair Waldorf is going to be beefing with the voice of Gossip Girl. Consider us sat.
Also new to the cast for season two will be Miles Fowler, who is playing Lenny, a member of Noah's basketball team who is going to be set up with Morgan.
And the updates just keep coming. On 4 March, it was announced Arian Moayed will be joining the cast playing Dr. Andy, a psychotherapist, who will be a love interest for Morgan. Sorry does this mean Morgan will be in a love triangle?
Also joining the cast will be Alex Karpovsky who will be playing a rabbi at Noah's temple and is set up to be his work rival.
When could we expect Nobody Wants This season 2 to come out?
It's obviously hard to know for sure, as series two was only confirmed in October, around three weeks after the first season came out.
The first season was filmed in March 2024, and then released six months later in September. Given the quick turn around time, we could expect a second season to debut at some point next year. Fingers crossed!
Nobody Wants This is available on Netflix now
