If you'd asked the internet three months ago what its favourite TV show was, people on Twitter might've said Succession or something like Schitt's Creek. But fast forward to December 2022, and the series have been usurped by a very unlikely reality show: The Traitors on BBC.

Set in the Scottish highlands, The Traitors follows a group of contestants made up of 'Faithfuls' and 'Traitors', who are all competing to win £120,000. The ultimate reality game of trust and treachery, Faithfuls must attempt to identify the Traitors, before they are 'murdered' or eliminated from the game.

The first series has been airing on the BBC for a couple of weeks, and while it might've taken people a few episodes to fully engage with The Traitors, it's safe to say Twitter is now HOOKED.

As one fan put it, "The Traitors is the best thing the BBC has done in years. Absolute chaos, camp as Christmas, Claudia Winkleman in increasingly massive jumpers. Flawless."

Someone else said, "#TheTraitors quickly becoming one of my favourite entertaining shows this year" and "Three episodes a week isn’t enough. I want it nightly. And then I want series two to start the day after series one ends. #TheTraitors."

Other comments read, "What’s the best show on TV and why is it #TheTraitors" and "Honestly #TheTraitors is the best reality tv show in a LONG time."

Honestly, best TV of 2022.

The Traitors continues on BBC One at 9pm on Thursday.
