West Side Story star Rachel Zegler used her Oscars platform to call out the Academy Awards for not inviting her in the first place. Awkward.
Last week, the actor revealed that she wasn't invited to this year's Oscars ceremony despite the fact that the film (in which she stars as the lead role) has been nominated in a number of categories. Taking to Instagram, the actor called out the awards ceremony for the snub, adding that she'll be cheering on the film "from my couch."
It all started when a fan commented "Can't wait to see what you'll be wearing on Oscar night," on her Instagram, to which Zegler responded, "I'm not invited so sweatpants and my boyfriend's flannel."
Later, it was revealed Zegler had received an invitation to the ceremony, which took place in LA last night, and was asked to present an award. The actor appeared on stage with Euphoria's Jacob Elordi to present Best Visual Effects. He kicked off presenting by saying, "Growing up in Australia, I never thought that I would stand up on this stage."
Rachel then joked, "And I never thought that I would be here six days ago."
She continued, "Dreams really can come true, pretty fast too. And for so many here tonight being nominated for an Oscar, it's a lifetime dream come true."
After the film being nominated for seven awards, West Side Story's Ariana DeBose scooped the gong for Best Supporting Actress.
