It's almost 2018, and who knows? It might be a big year for you. It might be the year you get your dream job, or that you find the partner you'll end up settling down with. Or it might even be the year you become a mum for the first time.
If you're wondering whether 2018 really might be the incredible but terrifying year you birth a real human child and take on responsibility for its health and wellbeing for at least 18 years, the good news is we've got a little bit of insight into how likely that is.
The Office of National Statistics this week released its most recent data about the average age women in the UK are becoming first-time mums. It currently stands at 28.8 years old, which has crept up from last year, when it was 28.6 years.
That allows us to reasonably conclude that most women who become first-time mamas next year will have been born in 1989 and 1990. No pressure, '89 and '90s babies...
To determine a little bit more information about exactly which women might be getting pregnant next year, we tried to hunt out the most popular baby names for that time period. The Office of National Statistics only records the data in ten-year periods going that far back (god, we're old), but the following 20 girls names were the most common on UK birth certificates between 1984 and 1994.
So basically, if your name is on this list, there's a statistically higher chance that you will become pregnant for the first time next year. (Still, no pressure or anything).
