In the 10 years that Keeping Up With The Kardashians has been on TV, we've seen the birth of eight (and soon to be nine) new members of the family. And just when we thought we could guess the names of the newborns... they surprise us. Here, a look at all the meanings behind the baby names — and how they all got their K-inspired start.
Chicago Noel West
Born: January 15, 2018

Meaning behind the name Chicago
When Kim and Kanye announced their third child's name was Chicago, people were admittedly confused. But, it makes sense considering Kanye grew up in the South Side of Chicago and it's a place he often mentions in his music. Others have theorised the name could be a tribute to his late mother Donda, who passed away suddenly at 58. Kimye has yet to confirm the real reason behind the name.
Meaning behind the middle name Noel
Kim revealed on 3rd July that Chicago's middle name is Noel. It's not yet known why Kim and Kanye chose it, but maybe they were big fans of Noel's House Party. I mean, who wasn't?!
Rumoured baby names
Before we knew her name was Chicago, KUWTK fans were analysing any and all of the family's social media posts for hints they could have possibly shared. People speculated the names 'Elle West', 'LV West', and 'Louis West' after Kim posted a close-up photo of a Louis Vuitton bag to Instagram.
Kris Jenner
Kristen Mary Houghton is the woman who started the Kardashian Kraze. But we know her now by the shortened name "Kris." Her and her younger sister Karen both share "K" names, though their parents' names were Robert and Mary Jo.
Meaning behind the 'K' names
ICYMI: All the Kardashian and Jenner sisters' names begin with the letter 'K'. Mum of all five girls, Kris Jenner, seemingly started that trend, and while she has never specifically given a reason for this, we've got to think it has something to do with her name and her late husband Robert Kardashian's last name.
The reason the family isn't keeping the 'K' theme
There's soon to be nine Kardashian/Jenner babies, but not a single one of them has a name that starts with the letter 'K' — which seems odd. But according to reports, Kim didn't want to use a K name because she thought the tabloids would find a way to refer to her family as the KKK (because Kim, Kanye, and baby K would make three Ks).
Meaning behind the name Mason
Mason was an obvious name for Kourtney to choose. “Right before he was born, I told my aunt we were thinking about going with that for a name. She told me that Mason means the same thing in English that Kardashian means in Armenian — stone worker,” Kourtney told MTV. "Another aunt told me my great uncle used to use the name Mason when he made dinner reservations, because Kardashian was too long.”
Meaning behind the middle name Dash
Surprisingly, Mason’s middle name does not come from his mum’s clothing store like some people have suggested. "That would be stupid. Dash is short for Kardashian, and it was my father's nickname,” Kourtney clarified to MTV.

Penelope is a classic Greek name meaning “weaver” and it's associated with The Odyssey. But Kourtney and Scott just picked the name because it was cute, according to momager Kris Jenner. They call her 'P' for short. The birth of little P was kept hidden from the media — though her arrival was announced only a few hours after Kourtney was checked out of the hospital.

Kris Jenner had suggested the name Scotland as a middle name for Scott and Kourtney's second child, and the two loved it. So when she was born, there was no doubt that was the middle name.
North West

North was originally a rumoured name, though Kimye had no intentions of using it. In an interview she explained how they ended up actually choosing that name. Kim said Pharrell came up to her and Kanye and asked if they were going to call her North because he thought it was really cool. But Kim shot down the idea. Then she said, “A little while later Anna Wintour came over and asked the same thing. She told us 'North is a genius name.' Kanye and I looked at one another and just laughed. I guess at that point it sort of stuck."
Rumoured baby names
North was humorously thrown out as a potential name by people, but we know it ended up sticking. Others thought Kimye would keep with the 'K' names and suggested Kaidence Donda West or Kai Georgia Donda West. People were convinced Kanye would honour his mother who passed in 2007 by incorporating the name Donda.
Reign Aston Disick

It was a name Kourtney had on her list since she gave birth to her first baby, Mason. She told People, “I’m never certain [with names] until they’re born.” The name re-appeared on her list again when she was pregnant with Penelope in 2012 — but it she had it spelled like 'Rain' instead of 'Reign'. And the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star finally gave the name to her third born, claiming sole credit for the name, though people have a feeling Scott had something to do with it too, since he calls himself 'Lord Disick'.

Kim and Kanye decided to take their son’s name a different direction (pun fully intended). A source told E! they had been referring to him as 'Saint' throughout the nine months "because she had such a difficult pregnancy.” He was “a blessing” to the couple who have since opted to use surrogacy to have another child to avoid any more pregnancy complications.
