We all need a break from our busy schedule once in a while, and let's face it, sometimes there's nothing better than a glass of red wine and your favourite TV show. And it seems most Brits agree.

A new survey of 2,000 adults by beverage bottler Cobevco reveals that stressed-out workers like to break up their working week with a cheeky tipple on a Wednesday, at 6.55pm to be precise.

While men are more likely to crack open a bottle at 6.40pm, women wait a little longer, until 7.07pm and most have it to accompany their meal.

The beverage of choice? With 37% of the votes, red wine was the winner, followed very closely by white wine (36%) and rose (20%).

Gillian Walters, sales and marketing director at Cobevco, explained: "As our working week becomes longer and stress takes its toll, people are turning to wine as a midweek treat and a bit of an escape - whether from office life or their family."

The study also revealed 76% of us ditch the pub for a quiet one at home. Gillian says: "More are forgoing an evening trip to the pub for a beverage or two in the house, as increased alcohol duty takes its effect on affordability, especially in the on trade.
