The 7 lipsticks that make thin lips look instantly fuller, starting at just £8.99

No needles necessary!

By

Often, for plumping our pouts, our first go-to is a gloss. It makes sense really, glosses offer that mirror-like shine that really gives the illusion of a juicier pout. And then you have plumping glosses that contain ingredients that essentially aggravate your lips to give a temporary plumping effect. But what if you don't want a glossy lip? what if it's windy and your hair is down and you don't want hair all over your mouth? Or you just want a traditional lipstick but one that doesn't give you raisin-like lips?

I feel you. Matte lipsticks have got a really dry reputation and previously traditional lipsticks would not be where you looked for something to plump, but now, thanks to hybrid formulas, you can have both. Plump, cushion-y lips and pigment can co-exist in one formula, and I have found 7 lipsticks that prove it below!

Shades: 12

If you have fine lines and wrinkles on your lips, this formula glides over the surface without any tugging. The pigment is punchy with just one swipe and it gives your lips a really smooth satin-y finish.

Customer review: "This lipstick has a lovely texture and you can really feel the moisturising properties. Beautiful colour. Will be checking out the others on offer in this collection too."

Morphe Lip Filter Plumping Matte Lipstick Suede 2 3g

Lip Filter Plumping Matte Lipstick Suede 2 3g

Shades: 12

Matte lipsticks can often feel drying and highlight every single line and crack in our lips but this one kind of gives the lips a blurred effect (like that just-been--smooched look) that smooths and feels like nothing is on your lips.

Customer review: "It has a really comfortable feel for a matte formula. It glides on smoothly and feels lightweight on the lips. The formula is creamy at first, then sets into a soft matte without looking flat or dry. The pigment is buildable - one swipe gives a natural nude look, and a second layer adds more depth."

If you're on the hunt for more of a balm-y lipstick that hydrates and gives lips that juicy appearance then you need look no further. Oleoactive is the oil at the heart of this balm to keep lips subtle and juicy looking.

Customer review: "This is an excellent product. It makes my lips soft, leaves a trace of colour. and protects my lips perfectly."

REFY Lip Stick

The most interesting liquid lipstick you will ever use. While most liquid lipsticks err on the side of watery and hyper-matte, this is like a satin lipstick that's been melted down into a plush, uber-pigmented texture. The applicator tip is also so lovely to smooth on, it's a joy to reapply.

Customer review: "This Lipstick is really nice. It covers your lips with a rich pigment, and PLUS it's super comfy to wear. When you reapply, it doesn't ball up or look weird. Yea, it's just great. Will definitely be buying more shades!"

Ok, so this is technically a balm but we like to think of it as a universally-flattering lip must-have! The way that it hydrates and cushions the lips thanks to the peptides in the formula is the perfect accompaniment to your fave nude lip liner (we love the ByFrow Pigment Pencils for this!).

Customer review: "I absolutely love this product and can’t believe that not more people know about it. I’ve always been a designer kinda girl and have used some expensive products but I honestly believe that this is better. It’s really hydrating, not sticky or tacky and has improved my lips."

Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm

Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm

Shades: 20

I have never had juicier, plumper-looking lips than when I have smoothed this on. It's a true gloss hybrid and the slight minty tingly sensation feels good as it plumps. In fact, so good, you'll actually look forward to reapplying.

Customer review: "Comfortable and hydrating with a glossy finish that isn’t sticky. Colour is subtle and flattering rather than bold. Doesn’t last forever, but lips feel good while wearing it, which makes the price easier to justify."

L'Oreal Paris Glow Paradise Balm

Another one with the the tingly, menthol cooling effect as it plumps the lips, it also contains softening oils to lock in hydration with a single swipe. The pigment isn't super punchy, so this is for you if you want more of a tint.

Customer review: "This is currently my go to lipstick. It's a great natural colour on my lips - it has that just bitten look to it. Has a great colour pigment, I often just dab it onto my lips and then spread it to give a more sheer look. Leaves my lips feeling soft and the colour lasts nicely."
