These are the best Jo Malone perfumes of 2025 (tried and tested)

Did you know that they're designed to be layered?

By , ,

When I first started out at Cosmopolitan, the thought of being able to test out a Jo Malone perfume was beyond me (read: she was a skint graduate who couldn't even afford to step into the likes of a department store).

However, just short of a few weeks later, I took home my very first perfume from the beauty cupboard and nostalgically, that Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Cologne still sits in pride of place on my vanity today.

So, after personally testing and wearing most of their top sellers and a few under-the-radar ones, the Cosmo US and UK beauty teams have collaborated to compile a list of our all-time favourite Jo Malone London perfumes that are world-wide-approved. We've taken this very important test of endurance and allure global, bb!

But first, some notes (pun very much intended). The best part about the Jo Malone brand is that their perfumes (and there are a lot of 'em) are timeless yet unique and are made for everybody. Plus, they are designed to be worn alone or layered for a personalised scent pairing profile.

Due to this, the pick 'n' mix scents are to the detriment of my bank account (read: they're pricey). However, you do get a great amount of quality product that will last all day long. Totally justifiable it, amirite?

A sneak peek at some of our faves

Want to find out more? Well, keep scrolling for the full list that includes a mix of fresh, floral, citrus and woody profiles. You need never be short of a 'you smell great!' compliment or luxe-looking beauty shelfie again...

Best Jo Malone Perfumes

1
Best citrus scent

Jo Malone London Lime Basil and Mandarin Cologne

Lime Basil and Mandarin Cologne

This glass bottle holds the warmest citrus fragrance that just gets it right. I couldn't describe it more perfectly than the words of Jo Malone: "Peppery basil and aromatic white thyme bring an unexpected twist to the scent of limes on a Caribbean breeze." It's zesty, to say the least.

Oh, and just a quick note, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley said in a Rose Inc video that this is one of her fave fragrances: "This is the perfume that evokes some of the most special memories to me."

Top note: Mandarin
Heart note: Basil
Base note: Amberwood

2
Best fresh washing-like scent

Jo Malone London English Pear and Sweet Pea

English Pear and Sweet Pea

While, like my beloved English Pear & Sweet Pea, this gem also has a top note of pear, the two blends couldn't be more different. Pear makes up an initial mellow yet juicy whiff whereas sweet pea and white musk add elements of garden fresh and powdery clean facets. This is what I imagine* the changing rooms at Hermes smell like. *Strong emphasis on imagine.

Top note: Williams pear
Heart note: Sweet pea
Base note: White musk

Best fruity scent

Jo Malone London English Pear and Freesia

English Pear and Freesia

Think about those fruity scents you wore in your youth: Sweet, citrusy and, erm, headache-inducing (I'm looking @ you, Nicki Minaj perfumes). Well, you'll be glad to know that while it has fruity notes, this Jo Malone scent is sophisticated AF. Once you spritz it on, you'll be immediately hit with the smell of fresh pears, wrapped in a floral blanket and mellowed out with a hint of patchouli.

It's basically the most elegant scent profile ever and with every sniff, reminds me of my favourite place in the world – that is, the Cosmo UK beauty cupboard, duh.

Top note: Williams pear
Heart note: Freesia
Base note: Patchouli

4
Best musky scent

Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir Cologne (50ml)

Pomegranate Noir Cologne (50ml)

Described as a ruby-rich blend of juices, exotic pomegranate, sparked with pink pepper and spicy Casablanca lily makes for a deep yet gentle waft of musk – most popular in the brand's home candle iteration but also loved on the skin by many.If you're looking for something dainty and sweet, then unfortunately, this may not be the one for you but for those who like to teeter on gender-free scents, you're looking at your winner. For him? For her? No, for ✨them✨.

Top note: Pomegranate
Heart note: Casablanca Lily
Base note: Guaiacwood

5
Best woody scent

Jo Malone London Wood Sage and Sea Salt

Wood Sage and Sea Salt

Did you know that this Jo Malone perfume has a cult-like following due to its unique profile that creates the most perfect, unique scent? Well, now you do and literally anyone can pull it off. It basically smells like your first breath of the fresh seashore and the earthy scent of nature, combo'd in one.

Top note: Ambrette seeds
Heart note: Sea salt
Base note: Sage

6
Best intense scent

Jo Malone London Hinoki and Cedarwood

Hinoki and Cedarwood

This gender-neutral scent is intense, yes, but still maintains a freshness that's hard to achieve with a deep, woody scent. IMO it's the perfect winter date scent; warm, sexy and clean.

Top note: Aromatic Clean Accord
Heart note: Hinoki Wood
Base note: Cedarwood

7
Best garden fresh scent

Jo Malone London Wild Bluebell Cologne

Wild Bluebell Cologne

This soft and light fragrance smells just like you walked into a field of blooming flowers, except instead of it being overly floral, it evokes a bouquet of freshness. Think: The oozing scent of young love from *that* iconic meadow scene in Twilight.

Top note: Bluebell
Heart note: Persimmon
Base note: White musk

8
Best Jo Malone mini

Jo Malone London Peony and Blush Suede (9ml)

Peony and Blush Suede (9ml)

I get it, dropping upwards of £82 on a fragrance reaches adult money territory, so I'd say opt for one of these small vials for £18 to test before you invest. This little guy is Peony and Blush Suede (read below for further deets on this particular scent) but if you head to Cult Beauty you can find many more Jo Malone scents in mini form.

Top note: Red apple
Heart note: Peony
Base note: Suede

Best floral scent

Jo Malone London Peony & Blush Suede Cologne

Peony & Blush Suede Cologne

Say hello to Jo Malone's flirtiest scent of the bunch: Peony and Blush Suede. This scent is not just exclusive to the spring season, either. In fact, it's light and fresh enough to be worn all year round. It's elegant, classy and so damn romantic. First date perfume, anyone?

Top note: Red apple
Heart note: Peony
Base note: Suede

10
Best gourmand scent

Jo Malone London Nectarine Blossom & Honey Cologne

This playful scent is an elegant upgrade from those super sweet, gourmand body sprays of your youth.

~ FYI: Gourmand fragrances are scents that showcase synthetic notes that refer to all things edible. Food-inspired, if you will ~

The best way to sum up the vibe? Like you've just bitten into the ripest peach and your taste buds are hit with the freshest and most natural sweetness.

Top note: Cassis
Heart note: Acacia honey
Base note: Peach

Best citrus-floral scent

Jo Malone London Orange Blossom Cologne

News flash: Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom was the signature scent of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding, so if that's not enticing enough to make you wanna try it, maybe its gorge notes are: Clementine flower, white lilac, and vetiver come together to create the freshest and floral perfume that’s truly unique – and, ahem, fit for royalty.

Top note: Clementine flower
Heart note: White lilac
Base note: Orriswood

Jo Malone London Red Roses Cologne

Say hello to the favourite perfume of American model Paloma Elsesser, which I can confirm is up there. Hear me out: This is the perfect rose perfume that smells nothing "like your grandma" (those comments can leave) or artificial headaches but instead, like you just pulled up to a rose garden in the south of France. Authentic rose? It's this scent right here, ppl.

Top note: Lemon
Heart note: Red roses accord
Base note: Honeycomb
