You may have spotted the jellyfish haircut rising in popularity over the last couple of years, with celebrities including Billie Eilish, Miley Cyrus and Gwen Stefani all jumping onto the trend. And while it's not all that new, trends do take a few years to filter down into the mainstream, meaning it's only going to continue to grow! In fact, Gwen recently shared yet another iteration of the cut and we're even more obsessed than we were before...
Over on Instagram, the 'Hollaback Girl' singer shared a promotional image for one of her performances later this year in California. "See you soon @thundervalley !! gx," Gwen wrote to caption her Story post.
Now, as excited as we are for said performance, what had us doing a double triple take was Gwen's haircut. I mean, the contrast between the face-framing bob and longer chest-length strands is striking, to say the least.
As Gwen so perfectly demonstrates, the jellyfish haircut is not for the faint-hearted, merging two polarising haircuts together, making for an avant-garde look. "There are two distinct layers: a short, blunt bob shape cut to around chin level, followed by long, flowing layered hair underneath," hairstylist Chlöe Swift previously told Cosmopolitan UK.
"It's definitely a fun haircut trend for those who like to stand out, make bold and creative style statements and are happy to experiment with their hair," Chlöe adds.
So, who dares to rock the jellyfish? With the best of both worlds, it is a great alternative for the commitment-phobes among us...
