However, today proving to us otherwise is Khloé Kardashian with her never-before-seen metal lips. And yes, by metal we mean the generally hard and shiny element...

In a bespoke edition of tmrw magazine dedicated to the reality TV star, Khloé can be seen posing in one headshot image wearing what seem to be gold-plated lips. Now, while this may sound like another weird and wonderful makeup trend, we mean this in the most literal sense possible.

The family's long-time makeup artist, Ash K Holm – whose clientele also includes Ariana Grande, Shay Mitchell and Megan Fox, to name a few – was the genius behind this avant-garde look, opting for a prosthetic mouth piece to match Khloé's claw-like golden manicure by Chaun Legend.

The glam otherwise has been kept rather neutral, with a flawless base and fluffy lash complimenting the statement lip.

Oh and did we mention that for the cover shot, KoKo is topless, too... well, sorta...
