At this point, I'm beginning to think Kim Kardashian is some sort of glam synth.
After the month she's had, with rumours of divorce with Kanye after she was spotted without her engagement ring, you'd forgive her for taking some down time, and reclining in a pit of her own takeaway boxes and hair grease.
Of course, there's no one way to deal with life's struggles - and Kim's certainly choosing her own path on this occasion, especially when it comes to glam.
In the past week Kim's not only opted for a hair transformation and gone ultra cool mink blonde, but she's also continuing to innovate when it comes to accessories, too. And she's gone suuuuuper 90s with this one: a jersey Alice band, right on the hairline.
It's certainly not the first time the Kar-Jenner cohort have brought back a nostalgic hairstyle or accessory. Remember when Kylie dug out the ol' scrunchie and then Kim promptly copied?
They've also indulged in old school pigtails, in butterfly clips and in nostalgic prom up-dos - so it was only a matter of time before one of the clan threw an Alice band into the mix.
It's a gorgeous effect - the tonal chocolate brown of the fabric contrasts texturally with the rest of Kim's hair, somehow making it look even shinier. Also - can we talk about how this is the perfect root cover-up, if you're skipping a salon visit (or twelve) due to lockdown measures?
However - forgive me - but there's one thing we need to point out. And that is: doesn't Kim know this is gross misuse of an Alice band? Everyone knows Alice bands, just like those tortoiseshell plastic hairbands (and those weird zig-zag comb headbands) have one purpose, and that's for dragging back an outgrown fringe while you wait for your next haircut.
The look just isn't quite the same without the spiky fringe-ends poking out the back (just me?).
However, on this occasion I'm willing to put our differences aside and congratulate Kim on a throwback well done.
That's after I've ordered my own Alice band, of course...
