The 7 best scented body creams to make you a compliment magnet, starting from £9

The next step to smelling heavenly...

By

I’m so obsessed with smelling good, for me, the fragrance layering starts right out of the shower with my body cream. While yes, the formula of a cream is important and how well it moisturises, the scent plays a massive part in my decision making. We cannot have clashing scent notes, people. Your body cream needs to work in harmony with your perfume or be completely unscented IMO. And I have tried and tested hundreds of scented lotions and creams and butters over my time as a beauty director to know which ones are worth buying. So from buys under £10 to luxe splurges that are definitely worth it, below I’ve rounded up the top picks…

Sol de Janeiro Delicia Drench Body Butter

Delicia Drench Body Butter

Scent family: Floral vanilla

Not only is this the most softening and hydrating cream in the SDJ range, the scent is the best, and I'll argue with anyone about that (yes, even better that the famous Bum Bum cream).

The notes are that of vanilla orchid, sugared violet and sandalwood which match the Cheirosa 59 Perfume Mist so anyone that loves the light, creamy and girl scents will love this.

Glossier Crème de You

Crème de You

Scent family: Skin scent

So, you love the scent of Glossier You (who doesn't?), but you wanna level up the projection of the scent. You is a quiet scent that only people that are close to you can catch. But if you pair with this cream it amplifies the scent threefold. The texture of this cream leaves your skin so supple and soft too and the scent lasts for hours.

INITIO Atomic Rose Body Cream 200ml

Atomic Rose Body Cream 200ml

Scent family: Warm rose

Ok, this cream is so expensive. Like SO expensive but it is so luxe and lasts in all areas. The texture is light but hydrates really well but has such a gorgeous scent of a warm, velvety rose. I'm not a rose fan and oI still love this scent and I tend to wear it without fragrance on top and I can smell it on my jumpers days later.

Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter

The Righteous Butter

Scent family: Floral

Lia, Cosmo Beauty Writer is Soap & Glory's biggest fan and this is her go-to pick from the brand. She loves the thickness of the cream but it's not greasy and sinks in quickly. The smell is luxe and long-lasting and she says it's so scented that she doesn't need a perfume when she uses it. Such a win for under £10!

The Body Shop Yuzu Water-Gel Body Yoghurt

Yuzu Water-Gel Body Yoghurt

Scent family: Citrus

If you hate traditional body cream texture and prefer serums, let us introduce you to The Body Shop's water-gel yogurt formulas. Sounds gross but it actually so light and refreshing and this scent is a little sweet but a lot zesty and energising.

ELEMIS Frangipani Monoi Body Cream, Luxurious Body Cream, 6.7 Fl Oz

Frangipani Monoi Body Cream, Luxurious Body Cream, 6.7 Fl Oz

Scent family: Floriental

Before I was a beauty journo I would sneak this body cream from my mum's toiletries and use it and would feel so grown up and luxurious. the scent lasts well and the cream is lightly hydrating. If you like deep, warm ambers and and musks this body cream will pair beautifully.

Salt & Stone Santal & Vetiver Body Cream

Santal & Vetiver Body Cream

Scent Family: Woody aromatic

Santal 33 hive, arise. This is the body cream that you need to pair with it for the most beautifully complex aroma. Firstly though, I love this body cream for how hydrating it is. It's lightly whipped but leaves my limbs looking richly moisturised. The scent is comprised of sandalwood, amber, vetiver, cedar, ambrox and orris which intermingle perfectly for a beautiful balanced woody scent.
