With summer around the corner, I’ve been in full wardrobe-refresh mode. After months of living in sweaters, turtlenecks, and anything fleece- or wool-lined to survive a New York winter, I’m ready for pieces that feel lighter and softer. And one item that’s definitely about to be on heavy rotation? A silk, lace-trim skirt.
I’ve been seeing the romantic skirt everywhere lately—styled on the fashion crowd around New York City, all over my feed, and on icons like Taylor Swift, who wore a Fleur du Mal one in London over the weekend, and Zendaya, who’s made the silhouette feel especially cool and modern with a simple tee. At this point, I’m fully convinced the lace-trim silk skirt is gonna be the summer wardrobe staple. Which means, naturally, I need to start shopping for one ASAP.
Styling-wise, what I love most about the trend is just how versatile it is. I’ve been seeing the piece across a whole spectrum of aesthetics. Taylor Swift wore hers for a date night with fiancé Travis Kelce in an elevated, polished way: paired with a coordinating black lace-trim tank, a long leather trench coat, and strappy heels. The overall vibe felt sleek, sexy, and cocktail-ready.
