For those whose wardrobes consist mainly of neutral tones, spring offers the perfect opportunity to introduce and experiment with a little color. From blue skies and yellow sunshine to the pink blossom on the trees, the new season provides plenty of inspiration. No wonder, then, that shades like Yves Klein blue, lemon, butter, and blush are all featured amongst the SS26 trends. However, spring's latest trending hue has drawn inspiration from a different source entirely.

Just as autumn is marked by the return of pumpkin spice lattes to café menus, iced matcha has quietly become every cool girl’s drink of choice. The traditional Japanese ceremonial tea, with its vivid green hue, has been steadily working its way into mainstream culture over the past year—but it’s now gone beyond a popular beverage to become a fully fledged aesthetic.

The trend has no doubt been accelerated by Blank Street, the coffee chain's color-coordinated pastel green branding, just as famous as its flavored matcha specialities. A quick look across social media confirms the Blank Street girl vibe as minimal, understated, and effortlessly polished, a subset of the clean girl aesthetic (and yet another microtrend to keep track of).

At a time when fashion and food have never been more intertwined, and with matcha having reached such levels of visibility, it feels like a natural progression that the soft shade of green—similar in tone to sage or pistachio—has transferred from a liquid to a look.

Meanwhile, matcha green features heavily across Zara's new-in section, though it's the halter topwith pretty bow-tie detailing, with optional matching skort, that really caught our eye.
