The first things that come to mind when I think of khaki pants: frat boys, finance bros, dads who needed something between jeans and a suit, and my all-girls high school uniform pants option that wasn’t the plaid skirt. Not exactly a lineup known for great style. So imagine my surprise when I realized that khaki pants are trending for spring. Yes! Street-style stars are wearing them in a way that feels fresh and nothing like a forced uniform. And guess what? I’m not even cringing. If anything, I’m kind of pleasantly surprised by how chic they look.

Market-wise, we have way more khaki pant options now that aren’t the usual stiff, corporate-coded pairs we see around the office. Think low-rise cuts, dramatic barrel-leg silhouettes, even utilitarian styles—khakis with actual personality that stray away from the traditional blueprint. They also come in a whole range of shades and textures, from beige denim (e.g., the TikTok-viral Still Here Cool Jeans) to slouchy trousers.

After some heavy internet digging to find a pair to get me on board, I came across the Mango Straight Mid-Rise Pants in Khaki, and it finally clicked: this is my way into the trend that feels easy and right.

Never thought I’d see the day khakis looked like this—and honestly, I’m annoyed I didn’t get on board sooner with the way I wear the same rotation of pants every week. The lightweight fabric is airy, making it perfect for summer nights. And the straight-leg silhouette is super current. Plus, you could easily style them with a wide range of different shoe choices. Personally, I’ll be styling them with sneakers for a lowkey look and kitten heels for a night out.

And the mid-rise? Honestly perfect. The thinner waistband keeps it sleek rather than bulky, making the whole thing feel more polished—no tightness at the waist. I love the overall relaxed vibe these give, and they can still be dressed up or down with a simple tee or a button-up top. And the darker, mossy khaki shade helps a lot. Its deeper tone reads less suburban dad, more low-key luxe.

For $80, this is a really solid find. It works especially well for the season and adds a bit of color without feeling loud or trying too hard (which I appreciate as someone who lives in neutrals). I already know I’ll be wearing these nonstop through spring and summer!
