With over 40 pairs of shoes in my collection—tennis shoes, sandals, loafers, heels, boots, all of it—I really do love every pair and try my best to rotate through them pretty evenly. But I’m not gonna lie, ballet sneakers (aka “sneakerinas”) are the ones I’ve been reaching for the most lately.

The slim sneaker-and-ballet-flat combination just works so well. The shape is low-profile and more refined than a chunky sneaker, but still feels casual enough for everyday. Then you have those ballet-inspired details—rounded toe, thinner sole, and satin finishes—that give them coquette energy without feeling too dressed up. I’m a fan because I can throw them on with something super low-effort, like leggings and a hoodie or an oversized tee with a jacket, and it completely shifts the vibe. It doesn’t read like I just threw on whatever—the contrasting vibes somehow feel intentional!

And I think that’s why I keep going back to them. They balance things out—soften anything that leans more formal and buttoned up while also elevating a more laidback, relaxed ensemble. And after seeing these fabulous ballet sneaker outfits, I’ve been inspired—I’m sure you will be too!

With capris and a leather jacket

When Bella Hadid stepped out in the now-viral Vivaia Cristina Sneakerinas in New York City last year, it basically kicked off the whole moment. Suddenly, everyone was wearing them—or trying to get their hands on a pair.

And this outfit is honestly proof of how much heavy lifting this shoe can do. It’s such a simple combo—a leather jacket and capri leggings—but the unexpected sneakerinas instantly pull it together and make it feel way more elevated than it should.

Pastel Pairing

If you’ve got baby pink ballet sneakers, lean into them! Pair them with a matching top so the color really stands out, then go for slouchy denim jeans to ground the look. A lace tie-on skirt adds a touch of whimsy, while a muted, earthy green bag complements the outfit without competing or clashing.

With khaki pants and a trench

Khaki pants are quickly becoming one of spring’s biggest trends. I know, how unexpected! Think: less prep school khakis and more Scandi fashion cool girl. Styling them with a fun top, a statement coat, and gray ballet sneakers makes them feel way less stiff and way more current. I love how the red shirt and silk scarf echo each other, adding a strong pop of color to an otherwise neutral moment.

Sure, you can stick with the same sandals you always wear with your white cottagecore dress every spring and summer… or you can switch it up with subtle metallic ballet sneakers that are likely more comfortable and instantly refresh a look you already know and love.

Low-Key Sporty

When I want to look sporty without fully committing to the bit (I’m just going out for brunch, okay?), this is how I’d style it. An activewear top and outershell paired with a flowy skirt is so geniusly chic, I wish I had thought of this first. And the ballet sneakers with the dainty little ribbon shoelaces? Adorable!

With trousers and a structured jacket

Loafer and trousers are a tried-and-true classic combo, but what about stepping things up a notch and swapping out the penny loafers for some ballet sneakers? They add a subtle, athletic twist to more tailored bottoms. Paired with a structured jacket, button-down, and tie, it’s an easy way to bring a bit of energy to an otherwise sleek, sophisticated get-up.

With a preppy combo

Here’s a fun take on the classic prep school look. The bright pastels help liven things up, but it’s really the white ballet sneakers that break up the structure and push it in a sweeter direction. And the pink socks are the cherry on top!

With a bodycon dress

This outfit just screams cool girl. Instead of going the usual route with heels on this bodycon dress, it’s styled with metallic sneakerinas that add an unexpected edge and shift the look in a more fashion-forward way. Plus, pairing them with ballet-inspired tights? So insanely chic!
