Call me a 29-year-old teenager, but I’ve never been more excited for anything than Olivia Rodrigo’s third forthcoming album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love. Crushes that turn your whole world upside down, followed by gut-wrenching heartbreak? Me asf!
When I first saw the album artwork, followed by the music video(s) for her first single “drop dead,” I immediately caught on to a joyful spring vibe. As a beauty editor, I couldn’t help but tie it all to one of my favorite perfume trends of the moment: Fresh, flirty florals. They’re not too heady or powdery—nothing like your grandma, tbh—instead, these fragrances are sparkling and bright. Pink and bubbly. They’re fun. They smell like swinging into clear skies. swiping on a pink lip gloss. and dancing with your friends. What could be better?

This scent has been wafting through the Cosmo office since it arrived in our beauty closet, largely thanks to editor-in-chief Willa Bennett spritzing it at minimum once a day. And I’m not complaining! At first spray, it smells like you ripped open a pitaya and the juices ran down your hands. But then, the florals come in. They’re solar and soaked in the sun, though, not powdery or garden-like. And the butterfly bottle ties in perfectly with OR’s logo for this album cycle. In our cover story, she says writing you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love felt like “catching a butterfly in a net.”

I know Olivia has moved onto pink, but this purple perfume still feels like something she’d have on her vanity. It’s a unique take on floral, thanks to juicy apricot and salt. When I reviewed all of the Glossier perfumes, I described this one as “the sweet smell of yearning, baby.” And I stand by it.

Is this cheating because Olivia is the face of this fragrance? Maybe. But! It’s also one of the flirtiest floral perfumes we’ve ever smelled. “When I want something sweet and simple to brighten my mood, I reach for Lancome’s Peach ‘N Roses,” says contributing beauty editor Mary Honkus. “This pretty peach scent brings the fruit to life without being cloying, rounding it out with berries and rose for a light, romantic scent that errs on the airy side.”

I know we’re onto a new era, but I’m sure Olivia still loves strawberry ice cream five years later!! And this strawberry perfume is lightly floral, with a sunny heliotrope note surrounded by yummy strawberry, butter, whipper sugar, and vanilla cream notes. Like licking a strawberry cone in Malibu. Just how Liv likes it.

Not only is this pink juice almost exactly the shade of Olivia’s gumball wall, but it’s also reminiscent of losing yourself in a rose garden at dawn—not too far off from waltzing around Versailles like in the “drop dead” music video, right? This rosey fragrance turns a sultry with a dash of pink pepper and a smooth, sexy musk. It’s more grown-up than others on this list, but don’t let that convince you it’s too mature. There’s still a youthful, bright quality to this scent.

D’Orsay is a niche perfume brand out of Paris (yes, I have ”taken that Eurostar to France”), and this musky floral is a warm skin scent that totally evokes a day exploring a new arrondissement. Iris is smooth and creamy, while jasmine is bright and fresh. And they’re enveloped in cozy cashmeran and smooth ambroxan. It’s soft and fluffy but not too sweet.
