Things I currently care about: pivoting my personality from Halloween to Holiday, literally everything Olivia Dean is doing, and...that's about it. Olivia's sophomore album, The Art of Loving, is such a refreshing perspective on relationships, and—while she makes it clear that a fairytale ending isn't the be-all and end-all—if you're wondering who she's dating, you aren't alone. Get to know Olivia better with a quick deep dive into her relationship history.
Just keep in mind this quote Olivia gave to NPR as you settle in: "I think I used to view love in a bit more of a black-and-white sense and maybe from ideals that you kind of grow up with as a woman — that you need a partner, or once you're with a partner you lose an independence and your own sense of self. And I love, love, but I also can really function alone. And I was like, 'Well, what is that something in between where I am in love with you, but I'm also able to remain myself outside of this relationship.'"
Harry Styles (Unconfirmed!): August 2024 to September...Maybe?
Olivia and Harry first kicked off relationship rumors in August 2024 (a couple months after Harry and Taylor Russell ended their relationship), when they were spotted at Five Guys. They were then spotted together again in September at the Kalorama festival. Meanwhile, a source told The Sun that "Harry and Olivia have known each other for a while. They have loads in common with their music taste and are enjoying getting to know each other out of the spotlight."
Things seemed to fizzle after that—at least when it came to public sightings—but honestly it's entirely possible that they were just platonic the entire time. Especially since a different source told the Daily Mail "Harry and Olivia are just good friends."
Eddie Burns: April 2025 to Now
Olivia and Eddie (who's a drummer) went public in the most British way possible: at Wimbledon, where they arrived hand-in-hand. That was back in July, but fans think they they've been dating since at least April, which is when they started connecting on Instagram.
Olivia hasn't spoken about their relationship, but she did say this generally about love back in October (pretty recently!) to Harper's Bazaar:
"I used to have a very black-and-white view of love. Either we’re together and we’re going to get married, or we’re not together anymore and you’re dead to me. Never speak to me again. I realized that that’s not quite realistic. There’s so much in-between to be had. Just because someone wasn’t the love of your life doesn’t mean it wasn’t important or meaningful or that that person doesn’t still deserve respect. Romantic love is not the most important thing in my life, and I don’t think that’s cynical to say. I love my friends, I love my family. There’s so much to pour into there."
She continued, "Also, I don’t need to be in a relationship. How about just existing? If one comes and it’s amazing, that’s so good. And if it doesn’t? I still love my life. It took time to get there, though. You’re told as a woman constantly, ‘Why don’t you have a man? Make yourself more beautiful so that you can get a man!’ How about I need to work? How about I love my friends? And if one comes, that’s amazing for me. If one doesn’t, I’ll survive. Listen, I could be Tracee Ellis Ross. She is thriving. Maybe I want to be cool auntie without a stress in the world."
Couldn't be more obsessed with her, the end!
