The second season of Netflix's Missing: Dead or Alive? just dropped and viewers were shocked and saddened to learn of Morgan Duncan's missing person case. Duncan was a 27-year-old father of two who disappeared on November 28, 2023 from Columbia, South Carolina. After months of searching by local police from the Richland County Sheriff's Department (as detailed in the show), in a gutting turn of events, Duncan's remains were found months later.
Eric Donnell Greene, a notorious local drug dealer, was later arrested and charged with murder. Here's the full details of the case and what we know about Eric Greene's whereabouts today.
Who is Eric Greene?
Eric Greene is the man ultimately held responsible for Morgan Duncan's death. Like Duncan, he was also a Columbia resident.
Greene had a worrisome local reputation as a drug dealer who often preyed on vulnerable people in the community, who had a pattern of targeting those who were vulnerable—including Morgan Duncan, who lived with schizophrenia.
When Morgan went missing in late 2023, suspicion quickly turned toward Greene. He was arrested in early February 2024—along with Julivia Waller and another suspect, Jerome Harper, held on accessory after the fact to murder charge—and charged with Morgan's murder, confirming that investigators had zeroed in on him as the prime suspect.
In an interview with WIS10, LaTanza Duncan, Morgan Duncan's mother, told the press that her son was innocent and had been deliberately preyed upon by Greene, saying, “He didn’t do anything to deserve what happened to him. He didn’t do it to himself, and we have to protect those who can’t protect themselves.”
Why did Eric Greene kill Morgan Duncan?
Heartbreakingly, according to law enforcement, the fatal confrontation between Greene and Duncan was sparked by a petty drug debt.
Investigators say Greene strangled Morgan during an argument over approximately $300 that Morgan allegedly owed for drugs. This dispute escalated to violence on the very day Morgan disappeared and witnesses later testified that they had seen Greene choking Morgan inside a Columbia apartment.
After the murder, Greene took extreme measures to conceal his crime: Morgan's remains were later discovered at multiple locations across Richland County.
For half a year, Morgan's loved ones searched desperately for him, until the discovery of those remains in mid-2024 confirmed their worst fears and turned the missing person case into a homicide investigation.
Where is Eric Greene now?
In July 2025—approaching two years after Morgan's initial disappearance—Eric Greene was found him guilty of murder and sentenced to 57 years in prison, a term that will see him incarcerated well into old age.
Greene is currently serving this sentence in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
As for Morgan's family, in her victim impact statement, Morgan's mother, LaTanza Duncan, thanked investigators for their work but made clear that “this day is nothing to celebrate” given the irreplaceable loss of her son.
Duncan called for more to be done to protect other vulnerable people from predators like Greene, in a bid to spare any other family from the same heartbreak.
What happened to Julivia Waller and Jerome Harper?
After spending over 500 days in jail after being charged accessory after the fact in the murder of Morgan Duncan, Julivia Waller was found not guilty.
Her attorney told the press afterwards, “Can you imagine someone accusing you of doing something so horrible, being involved in the assistance in a murder, who was trying to help cover it up, that you did not do, and were detained for 528 days? And you don't get to hold your beloved little daughter until that time you are relieved from jail and are released?”
One report from a local channel, dating July 2025, states that Jerome Harper's case has not yet been heard.
