Last week Prime Video dropped what has fast become our latest TV binge watch - Off Campus. The hockey romance series is based off Elle Kennedy's book series of the same name and the first series is largely focussed on the love story from the book The Deal.

The series follows hockey player Garrett Graham (Belmont Cameli) and Hannah Wells (Ella Bright) who make a deal to fake date, in order to help Hannah land the guy of her dreams in exchange for Hannah helping Garrett with his philosophy course. Spoiler alert! The couple then of course fall in love amongst many sex scenes, hockey games and parties.

However, while the series does closely follow the book its based on and gets a lot right, there's also a lot of differences between the show and the book. And these are the 13 biggest we've spotted.

The biggest differences between the ‘Off Campus’ TV series and book

The meet-cute

In the book: Hannah and Garrett meet for the first time during a class when she drops her books and he discovers her grade.

In the series: The show treated us with having the pair's first meeting be in the locker room shower, instead of class. Honestly, thank you Prime Video! He then later on sees how well she does in the philosophy class.

Justin's role

In the book: Justin is a football player who Hannah wants to get with.

In the series: Justin is a musician that Hannah is thirsting over and wants to get with. Changing him to a musician allows an added layer with the series as the pair have more interactions based on their shared love of music.

Hannah kissing Logan

In the book: Early on Hannah kisses Dean to prove to Garrett her lack of feelings.

In the series: However, in the TV show she ends up kissing Logan, who we all know has a lot of feelings for her, which really doesn't help that situation out.

The character of Jules

In the book: Logan only has a brother in the novel series.

In the series: Jules is Logan's sibling and a more prominent part in the story, as they run the social media account that tracks all the hockey players.

The Breaking Bad connection

In the book: One of the biggest turning points in Garrett's character journey is learning he can be connected to women without taking their clothes of. He connects with Hannah by the pair bonding over their shared love of Breaking Bad.

In the series: They bond over music instead, with a key scene taking place during their sleepover. However, there is still a sweet nod to the Breaking Bad connection as while they're looking up music on Hannah's laptop, one of the tabs says 'Breaking Bad on Prime Video'.

The One Direction obsession

In the book: Throughout the novel Hannah is a girl after our own hearts and has a big One Direction obsession. At one point Garrett discovers her One Direction playlist and deletes it and in another chapter the pair have sex to 'Story of My Life' in the car.

In the series: The One Direction obsession is not really a thing.

The Halloween storyline

In the book: A big plot point in the novel is Garrett's dislike for Halloween and all the negative association he has with it. Hannah then skips going to a Halloween party and spends the night with Garrett, where she discloses her assault story to him.

In the series: Garrett's dislike of Halloween isn't really a thing, and Hannah ends up telling him about the assault after a night out of karaoke, when she asks him to give her an orgasm.

The orgasm conversation

In the book: Speaking of orgasms, in the novel, Garrett approaches an older guy on the team Birdie, who is in a long term relationship and asks his advice on making sure Hannah reaches an orgasm.

In the TV series: Garrett has this conversation with Dean instead.

The Shakespeare play

In the series: Hannah and the group head to Allie's Shakespeare play where Justin, Hannah and Garrett get pulled up to stage to act as part of the show.

In the book: This doesn't happen in the novel.

Garrett attacking Hannah's assailant

In the book: Garrett runs into Hannah's assailant during one of the hockey games and beats him up.

In the series: Garrett ends up playing against Hannah's assailant in one of the games.

The breakup

In the book: Hannah dumps Garrett after his father essentially blackmails Hannah by saying he will cut Garrett off financially (which is how he affords college) if she doesn't end things. She doesn't tell Garrett this and instead tells him their relationship is going too fast and she needs to end things.

In the series: Garrett breaks up with Hannah because he worries he is too 'dangerous' for her and doesn't want to hurt her, or end up acting like his father.

The hands-off rule

In the book: Following their breakup Garrett stops any guy from talking to Hannah so she doesn't date anyone else.

In the series: This doesn't happen explicitly in the series. However, Hannah does hear a rumor Garrett has done this and so she storms into the locker room and confronts him. He then says: "I would never tell anyone to stay away from you. You should be with whoever you want to be with."

The introduction of Dean and Allie

In the book: Dean and Allie's romance doesn't feature at all in the first two books - The Deal and The Mistake. Instead it's only brought in as the focus of book three - The Score.

In the series: Dean and Allie's romance is peppered throughout the first season, giving us major hope their love story will be the focus of the next season.

Off Campus is available on Prime Video now.
