In an unexpected plot twist, The Pitt pulled a Marvel and wrapped up Season 2 with an absolutely delightful post-credits scene. The moment in question featured Dr. Santos and Dr. King outside of the ER doing karaoke together. Their song? “You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette. The scene offered a rare and much-appreciated look at how the hospital staff decompress at the end of a long day, and was truly the best way to end a very emotional season.

Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill told Variety, “That karaoke was a very, very late add. While I was writing episode 15, we came up with that. That was a very last-minute thing. I thought it would be fun to put a little easter egg in there. The girls had had such a tough day that they deserved a night out on the town. And I thought it would be a nice surprise for the audience, and sort of to blast us into Season 3 with hope.”

As for the song choice, he told The Wrap, “I offered Taylor and Isa to pick whatever song and I had that song in the script, just because I thought you could harsh that one out pretty wildly. And they stuck with it, and they such a great job. I was really glad we did that, and I was glad they were down for it. It is a nice sigh of relief after a heavy episode.”

Taylor Dearden, meanwhile, told Parade she was totally shocked by the scene and it came as a “surprise” but was “so much fun, we had such a blast that day.”
