If you’ve been following along with Love Is Blind this season, then you know it’s been confusing for a number of reasons. For instance: We still don’t know whether Kacie actually ghosted Patrick or whether Annie and Nick’s breakup was staged or whether Anton really did spend $5K of his own money on Ali’s engagement ring. But here is what I do know: All of these events took place way earlier than you might think...because Love Is Blind season 9 was filmed over 18 months ago.
People first speculated about the timeline when Anna took to Instagram to explain why she left the show and noted that the season “was filmed almost 2 years ago.” And then, when it was revealed that one of the main cast members had secretly welcomed a baby since filming wrapped, fans really started asking, “How???” But it all makes sense when you realize that Love Is Blind Denver was filmed way back in spring 2024. Let’s review the timeline, shall we?
When was Love Is Blind season 9 cast?
Casting for this season seemingly began way back in March 2023, when Kinetic Content Casting invited fans from Washington, D.C. (where season 7 was filmed), Minneapolis (where season 8 was filmed), and Denver (where this most recent season was filmed) to apply for the show.
When was Love Is Blind season 9 filmed?
Based on what cast members have said, it seems like seasons 8 and 9 were filmed back-to-back, with Minneapolis filming taking place between February and March of 2024. Season 8 contestant Taylor previously confirmed that her LIB wedding with Daniel took place on March 19, 2024:
And Denver filming seemingly took place throughout March 2024 (and perhaps into April), as Axios Denver reported several film crew sightings throughout the city last year. In any case, it definitely wrapped by May 2024, as the pic used for Megan’s 2024 Mother’s Day IG post was taken on the same day that Jordan met her family for the first time:
Side note: Here’s an uncropped pic (which includes Jordan) from that same day, posted by Megan’s mom in October of this year, lol.
In conclusion: At least 18 months (!!) have passed since filming wrapped on season 9.
How long did Love Is Blind season 9 take to film?
Love Is Blind creator Chris Coelen previously told Netflix’s Tudum that the singles only have 10 days to go on their pod dates and find their partners—and after those 10 days, an additional 28 days are spent filming the couples after they’ve left the pods (plus, there’s that one-week retreat in paradise). Therefore, filming likely spanned over approximately six weeks.
As far as future seasons go, we already know that Love Is Blind is coming back for season 10, and chances are it’s already been filmed. (Spoiler alert: Rumor has it the pods are going to Boston next...)
Here’s hoping that footage won’t take 18 months to make it to air (and here’s hoping we get more clarity about the season 9 timeline when the reunion drops on October 29!).
