Hello...You. The Netflix hit drama about a murderous, yet romantic, stalker just dropped season 5. And, yes, it's even stalkier and murdery than seasons past. The catch? It's the final season. You will not be returning for a season 6, so once you're done with the latest 10-episode season, you'll be rid of Joe Goldberg for good.

Why won't there be a You season 6?

According to producers Gerg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, the hope/plan (after getting revived by Netflix) was always to go for 5 seasons. “Ever since our friends at Alloy shared Caroline Kepnes' fantastic book, we have always conceived it as a five-season journey,” the said in a statement confirming season 5.

Now, we've seen our fair share of reboots, so I'm sure your next question is: Could You come back for season 6 in the future? Maybe, but that all depends on lead actor Penn Badgley.

What does Penn Badgley think of You ending?

After years of playing professional creep Joe Goldberg, Penn Badgley is more than ready to say goodbye to the character for good. And you can't really have You without him.

Speaking with The Guardian before the season 5 premiere, the actor questioned the show's necessity in today's world. “I think we all have to wonder how much value is there in exploring the darker side of human nature,” he said, adding that now might be a good time to work on something a little more positive. “I do think we need to explore the ‘light’ side, and I don't mean light in a way that is thin or has less gravity.”

Penn continued, saying that, as a show that originally premiered in 2018, You might not be as much fun to watch in the political reality of 2025. “It's a politically intensifying world, and I don't think this show would make sense starting right now. It's ending right now. The way this show plays with questions of how we reward bad people, that was a more playful question eight to 10 years ago. It's not as playful a question now, and it comes with way more stakes, and I'm glad we're not going to be playing with it any longer.” He added, “And for that reason, I'm really glad it's ending.”

So, yes, the time has come to say goodbye to You. Unless you're up for a rewatch...
