If you, too, have been personally victimized by the Wednesday series—namely because you need a season 2 from Netflix, like, yesterday—then you’ve come to the right place. The show managed to surpass Stranger Things by garnering 341.23 million hours viewed in its first week, becoming the most watched English-language series in that amount of time for the streamer. TL;DR: To say that the Addams Family spin-off has catapulted to top-tier levels of popularity is a serious understatement, and Netflix knows it, which is why we're getting Wednesday season 2 this summer.

Ahead, find every single thing we know about Wednesday season 2 (including what the deal with a potential Lady Gaga cameo is). Don't worry, we know what you came here for.

Okay, seriously, will there be a Wednesday season 2 or not?

It’s official: There will absolutely be a season 2 of Wednesday! Netflix confirmed the news on Twitter with this amazing announcement video:

The show’s creators and stars were super interested in a second installment of the project. Co-showrunner Miles Millar spoke with TVLine about continuing the series, saying, “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles...Catherine [Zeta-Jones] is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”

Are there any pics from Wednesday season 2?

Is there a Wednesday season 2 trailer?

Netflix dropped a new trailer for Wednesday season 2 on July 9, and boy does it tease a lot, including the arrival of the Addams family at Nevermore and new mysteries for Wednesday to solve.

When is Wednesday season 2’s release date?

Netflix officially revealed the teaser trailer on April 23 and confirmed that Wednesday will be coming out very soon! The new season will be split into two parts with Part 1 coming out on August 6 and Part 2 on September 3.

What will Wednesday season 2 be about?

According to the official description, season 2 will find Wednesday “plunged into a new bone-chilling supernatural mystery.” And based on the trailer, Wednesday's BFF/roomie Enid's life is on the line.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight in November 2022, Jenna teased what lies ahead, teasing, “I kind of want [Wednesday] to be darker,” before adding that she hoped the character wouldn’t “play things so safe” in future episodes. “There are a lot of lines about her saving the school and doing whatever, but for me, her main drive with the monster is of a competitiveness,” Jenna added. “Kind of, ‘Man, how’s this guy doing this?’ I think I want it to continue down an antihero stream rather than a typical hero.”

Who is Lady Gaga playing in Wednesday season 2?

Mother Monster and Wednesday teaming up would be nothing short of iconic...which is exactly why it's happening.

In November 2024, Entertainment Weekly confirmed that Lady Gaga is officially joining in on the fun, although her role remains under wraps. At SXSW, Jenna gushed all about Gaga and what it was like to work with her on the upcoming season of Wednesday, saying, “It’s the best. She’s the best, definitely one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with. It was just a really, really special environment to be there with her and Tim [Burton], two people that I respect and have been inspired by so much.”

“Then just finding out that she’s such a sweetheart and really kind and reserved, it’s very strange,” Ortega told IndieWire. “I love that you never know what to expect from her, but you can always expect kindness and generosity.”

That said, Gaga gave major love to the show when TikTokers began using her 2011 song “Bloody Mary” in Wednesday-inspired dances, and Jenna loved every minute of it, calling the fact that Gaga even knows her work “very strange.”

“A long time ago, I worked with a hairdresser who used to work with her and I had just seen Lady Gaga in concert in Boston a couple of years before and she had made me a video saying, ‘Oh, hey, Jenna! I heard you’re a fan,’ and it was a really, really sweet video,” Jenna told Variety at the 2023 Golden Globes.

“I doubt she even remembers or even knows who I was back then, but to see her do [the dance] now, it was kind of one of those moments where you acknowledge that life changes really, really fast and it’s really crazy,” she added.

Jenna will be producing season 2!

Yep, you read that right, folks! In her March 2023 Elle cover story, it was revealed that the actor is set to executive produce the second installment of the series. But between all her projects, fortunately she took some R & R, which, fair!

“There’s a month of this year that I want to take off, and I’ve made it very clear that I’m going to take this month off. I’m going to travel, I just got a flip phone, I’m just going to be hidden for a while,” she revealed in the interview. “I have to work things around my schedule to make sure that that month stays open. There’s a part of it that’s stressful because it’s like, ‘Oh my god, can I tell this director that I don’t want to work these two weeks? Can I?’ I don’t know, but I am also making the rules.” Love this for her!

Jenna shed more light on her role while speaking with Elle Fanning for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, Jenna revealed, “We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more. Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.”

Oh, and as for her character’s romantic love interest? They’re “ditching” that concept entirely—as in, the season 1 storyline that saw Wednesday in a love triangle between Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White)—which she thinks “is really great.” A refresher: In the past, Jenna has openly spoken about the plot points that have “made no sense” for her character, from the love triangle she was in to her commenting that she loved a dress option for her school dance. However, with the second season underway, the actor appears to be addressing all of this head-on.

“In preparation for a second season, we wanted to get ahead of the curve and make sure that we could start the conversations earlier,” she said. “And I’m just so curious. I want to see the outfits, new characters that are coming in, scripts, and they were gracious enough to let me put the producer hat on.”
