Recently added to the list of things I did not know I needed but now cannot live without: a video of Kristen Stewart and Shia LaBeouf having a very long, very strange conversation. The video is part of Variety’s Actors on Actors series, where—yep, you guessed it—actors interview actors. Shia’s promoting Honey Boy and Kristen is there for Seberg. However, the most interesting part of this convo has nothing to do with either movie.
The full conversation is about 45 minutes long, but I can confidently say that it is best summed up in this minute-long clip of Kristen and Shia talking about hands. K-Stew seems to be really taken with the fact that hands do, like, literally everything for us and it somehow takes an even weirder turn from there? I don’t even know how to explain it. Please just check it out for yourself.
This might sound dramatic, but I genuinely believe that this 62 seconds of pure entertainment gold has cured my chronic awkwardness. I previously identified as a person who entered literally every single conversation worried that I might completely nosedive into awkward territory, but after watching this clip, I have adopted a new “BRING IT ON” mentality. TBH, this might be the most powerful video in the history of pop culture.
A few quick questions I have about this video:
- Can I please get a copy of whatever Kristen is writing about hands? I would like to see it.
- Did Shia not notice that Kristen was literally shaking throughout this entire interview? He seemed very concerned that her hands were shaky in the movie...but she’s constantly moving throughout the entire Variety video. Hm.
- Was there actually a man and woman chilling somewhere out of sight? Because I would really enjoy footage of them reacting to Shia pointing in their direction and being like, “No. Not you.”
- Is thinking that you’re holding a gun a symptom of being hungover? If so, I’ve been doing this wrong for, like, YEARS.
- Has anyone ever agreed with someone they knew was wrong more gracefully than Shia LaBeouf? “Guns are heavy.” “Yeah. No...but I mean the finger gun.” What a polite man!
- How many awkward silences had to be edited out of the full conversation? Kristen and Shia seem like people who are unafraid of silence. However, this doesn’t tend to work well for video. I would love to watch the lost tapes!
Anyway, if anyone needs me, I’ll be watching this video on repeat until I can go home and watch Twilight.
