So, remember when we were just kicking off season 3 of Blind Date? Yeah… we only have a few episodes left. I’ve honestly been so impressed that the caliber of Willa’s dates has stayed at an all-time high week after week. Case in point: Riz, Ramy, Veronika, Mel C., Ariana, and this week’s guest, Alex Warren. How lucky we are! Willa was fully locked in with guessing this week and was able to uncover Alex’s identity with one small detail. I’m not going to lie, her accuracy scared me. Even Alex threw out a Nardwuar comparison, which is excellent for this show but probably not a comment you want to get on a first date? I don’t know—I’m still on the fence about letting people know I Googled them.
Anyway, after Alex got slightly triggered by the audio delay on our voice-changing mic (Grammys trauma, if you know, you know), Willa dove right into your reader questions. They talked about living in cars with his wife in the early days of their relationship, Curry Barker (the genius behind Obsession), and Alex’s skateboarding YouTube channel that he admittedly used to get girls. Speaking of which: Alex did serenade his childhood girlfriend (using that term very loosely) with Bruno Mars’s “Grenade” at a talent show. So, obviously, he whipped out the old choreography and his younger self’s high-pitched voice to give Willa a taste. Have we ever had a live performance during a Blind Date? Be right back, reviewing the footage. Almost forgot my favorite part: Willa and Alex bonded over flirting with Joe Jonas. Can’t make this stuff up.
Over a November 2010 vintage Cosmo, Alex gave his takes on dealing with a serial dater, introducing food in the bedroom, and why you shouldn’t go out to the bar alone, even if it makes you look mysterious and sexy. Willa also learned a lot in the Love Audit. Turns out, Alex knows how to get a full meal at In-N-Out for five dollars, would never get a matching tattoo, and will always choose public vows (I 100 percent agree with what he said about ChatGPT). I’m always sad when an episode ends, but, thankfully, we have Alex’s new single, “Passenger,” to play on repeat until next week. Happy listening!
