In light of Mika Abdalla’s insane rise to fame from starring on Off-Campus, fans of the show have been taking a major magnifying glass to her and ex-fiancé Jake Short’s relationship…and for good reason.

Let’s recap: Back in April 24, Mika appeared in an episode of Jake’s Sit and Chat podcast for a special “Couples Therapy” episode. Bradley Steven Perry and his now-wife Natasha Bure sat down for the episode, and when Bradley asked Jake how he would describe Mika, he had a very odd answer.

“I have two words,” Jake said. “I’d be like, ‘Some bitch.’” Referencing Natasha, Mika said, “So, she’s the best person [Bradley] knows, the best person he’s ever met, and I’m some bitch?”

After the clip made the rounds on social media this week, Jake shared an apology on June 6 to his Instagram Story. “I made a disrespectful, juvenile joke in a clip that recirculated this week,” he wrote. “It’s imperative to me that I take accountability as I am aware that it was inappropriate.”

Jake added that the clip is “not representative of who I am or who I was in my relationship. I continue to learn from this situation and work to show people the respect they deserve.”

Hours earlier, he and Mika released a joint statement to Us that read: “We’ve seen a conversation around clips of us together when we were in a relationship, and people making harmful and inaccurate assumptions about our dynamic. We were in a loving, respectful relationship for five years [and] it’s hurtful to see playful moments dissected in a way that does not reflect the respect and love we had and still have for each other.”

Reminder: Mika and Jake broke off their relationship on June 2, with a rep telling Us Weekly, “Due to recent interest in Mika’s personal life it would feel remiss to not address that her and Jake are no longer together. They continue to support each other and remain on friendly terms, and kindly ask for privacy and respect.”

DeuxMoi noted that Mika ended the engagement, while a source for Daily Mail said that Jake would “take her back in a heartbeat.” That said—let’s see if reconciliation is in the cards for these two.
