• Some DeuxMoi readers were offended by how the page’s admin responded to a user asking how to be practice fandom in a healthy way.
  • The account responded and said that “online nonsense” from fans is “batshit crazy embarrassing.”
  • Readers noted that the account practices similar behaviors through the content that it platforms and shares on social media.

DeuxMoi is probably one of the biggest celebrity gossip accounts on the internet, but that doesn’t mean that the team running the page doesn’t find themselves at the center of a controversy of their own making every now and then.

On May 7, the admin at DeuxMoi took questions on their Instagram Story, which saw one person innocently asking for proper fan etiquette. “Is there a healthy way to fangirl (gender neutral)?” the user asked, totally not expecting to get a super sassy response in return.

“Yes. Hang a poster above your bed and call it a day like we did in the 80s,” DeuxMoi wrote in response. “All of this online nonsense is mental institution level bat shit crazy embarrassing.”

Naturally, some of DeuxMoi’s readers took offense with the response to the question, with several noting that the page’s entire existence thrives off of the same behavior that it so boldly criticized and mocked in the comment.

“I—does deuxmoi know they are the source of the online nonsense mental institution level bat shit crazy embarrassing content??” one user wrote on Reddit. In response, another user wrote, “Posting journal entries on the ig stories instead of the pages….Imagine a celebrity/influencer PR gossip blog tryna shade “online nonsense”?”

The top comment on the Reddit post read, “saw this [DeuxMoi’s Instagram Story] and audibly laughed. Imagine having such a lack of self-awareness.” Another user added, “she tells herself she’s doing journalism [and] what the people want to know lmfao.”

The discourse also continued on X. “The deuxmoi admin always trying to shade people for being parasocial YOU RUN DEUXMOI,” a person tweeted to the tune of 25,000 likes on the platform. “You’re a founding father of the culture !!!!!! You’re flying the plane!!”

Um, not sure what to make all of this but…
