Thank the Netflix Gods: Nobody Wants This is finally back for season 2, which means that we'll finally get to see what happens next for Joanne—a non-religious podcaster—and Noah—a hot rabbi. Cultures will clash, arguments will be had, but will their love survive? Star Kristen Bell might be able to help with that. Kristen has some relationship advice for her Nobody Wants This character, and we should all be taking notes.
“Having someone I feel that is very opposite from me is certainly something that I feel,” she explained to People. “I feel like my real-life husband and I are ‘opposites attract.’”
Kristen, of course, is married to Dax Shepard, and has been for 12 years, and if she could offer some words of wisdom to her Nobody Wants This character, it would be to have patience. “My advice to Joanne is just calm down a little bit. I feel like she can get very amped up very quickly,” she continued. “And in order to take yourself from a ‘me’ to a ‘we,’ it requires a lot of patience.”
In her own relationship, Kristen said, both she and Dax had to work on being patient with each other and on accepting that they might never agree on certain issues. “We did have to have a lot of patience for each other to figure out what the compromises would be,” she explained. “And a general understanding that we’re probably going to have different viewpoints on almost everything—and figure out a respectful way to have those discussions.”
Kristen and Dax stirred up controversy this week after Kristen's anniversary post on Instagram went viral. “Happy 12th wedding anniversary to the man who once said to me: ‘I would never kill you. A lot of men have killed their wives at a certain point. Even though I’m heavily incentivized to kill you, I never would,’” she wrote in the caption.
To say that fans did not appreciate the sentiment would be an understatement...particularly because it was shared during domestic violence awareness month. So, yeah, you can take her advice with a grain of salt.
Side note: If you’re wondering whether Dax will ever make an appearance on Nobody Wants This (like Adam’s wife, Leighton Meester, did this season), it seems unlikely. As Kristen told People, “He would never do it—he’s kind of retired from acting. Maybe he’ll go back one day, but he loves podcasting and he’s not starved for opportunities.”
