  • Belly debuts a bob in the finale, and Lola Tung and Jenny Han revealed whether or not she was wear a wig.
  • MILD SPOILERS AHEAD.

The Summer I Turned Pretty has ended and now I don't know what to do with myself. So, might as well pull a Belly and get a cute bob? Semi spoiler, though not really, but Belly chopped her hair into a very cute cut for the season finale of TSITP, meaning allllll the major moments between her and Conrad were giving French girl chic.

So, what was behind the decision to cut Belly's hair? The same reason we all cut our hair post-breakup. She needed a change.

"I think women often cut their hair after a breakup or when they want to let go of old baggage and signal to people that they’re ready for change," showrunner Jenny Han told Vogue. "The idea is that if you look different, then you can feel different."

Lola Tung added, "I was excited when I learned that Belly was getting a bob. It’s nice to see her make that decision for herself, almost as a physical representation of the growth and change she’s experienced." She also noted that, “Hair can hold weight and memories and meaning, and I think this moment was the perfect time for her to cut hers,” she says. “Even earlier in the season, it is something that comes up with Jeremiah. He tells her to never cut her hair. I think her making this decision feels freeing, like a fresh start.”

So, was it a wig? Yes and no. Vogue reports that the front of Lola's hair was cut, and the back was a U-line wig. Meanwhile, Jenny cut her hair to make sure it looked good: "I was super-nervous about it. Obviously, when you cut it, you are not going to know for sure how it’s going to look until you see it," she said. "I covertly went in and got my hair cut. I have very thick hair, so if [the hairstylist] can do my hair, then he can do her hair. I’m just on set, so who cares if my hair doesn’t look good."
