- Prince Harry and King Charles have reunited for the first time since their estrangement in February 2024.
- After getting tea with King Charles at Clarence House in London, Harry gave an update on him during a reception for the Invictus Games.
- The father-son duo seemingly reconciled nearly two months after Harry’s chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, and King Charles’ communications secretary, Tobyn Andrae, had a meeting in London.
So...Prince Harry and King Charles might be on the road to reconciling amid their royal rift. On September 10, Harry was spotted entering Clarence House in London for a private tea session with his father. This marks the first time the pair has seen each other in 19 months amid a rift that might have been caused, in part, by the Duke of Sussex stepping back from his royal responsibilities in 2023.
After their tea, Harry made a public appearance at a special reception for supporters and friends of his adaptive sports competition, the Invictus Games. When someone asked about the King, Harry reportedly responded, “Yes, he’s great, thank you.”
This reunion comes just about two months after Harry’s chief communications officer, Meredith Maines, and King Charles’ communications secretary, Tobyn Andrae, met up in London in July, which is what initially sparked reconciliation rumors.
In May, Harry told the BBC that he hoped to make amends with Charles after they had been estranged since he and Meghan Markle fought to restore security protection in the UK.
“There have been so many disagreements, differences between me and some of my family,” Harry told the outlet. “This current situation that has been ongoing for five years with regard to human life and safety is the sticking point. It is the only thing that’s left.”
He added, “Some members in my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things.”
Harry and Charles’s sudden reconciliation also comes after sources told The Daily Beast that the King’s relationship with Prince William is “tense, difficult, formal, and fraught” and that “the vast majority of their communication [was] mediated by their private secretaries” on their royal family vacation.
