Prince Harry is currently in the United Kingdom, and immediately visited the grave of his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. But apparently this visit wasn't smooth sailing, and required permission from King Charles—which Prince William allegedly wasn't here for.
Rob Shutter's "ShutterScoop" reports that Prince Harry was "quietly granted permission by King Charles" to visit the Queen's grave and lay a wreath, with a palace aide saying, "This was a highly personal gesture. The King wanted to make sure Harry had access."
While The King clearly did the right thing, apparently William wasn't convinced. Per a royal source, "William believes Harry caused his grandmother deep stress. He would never have greenlit this moment."
Prince William lives in Windsor, but was at a royal engagement with Kate Middleton at the time of his brother's visit and didn't make the short drive (just eight miles) home to meet him. Per a courtier, "The brothers are still oceans apart. Even grief can’t bridge that divide."
Another source adds that William's royal engagement happening at the same time as Harry's visit "wasn’t coincidence" since "he doesn’t trust Harry and won’t be seen endorsing him."
FYI, all of this comes amid a source telling the Daily Beast that William thinks his dad needs to cut off Prince Harry: "William was right about Andrew, and he is right about Harry," the source said. "Charles is weak. William is anything but weak. Ultimately, William is a loyal soldier. He respects his father’s rank, and he respects his father’s right to make his own decisions, and he won’t make a fuss if it happens. But he thinks a Harry meeting is a terrible, terrible idea."
