Aside from his incredible acting chops (yes, I’m still thinking about Sing Sing), Colman Domingo is also a certified fashion icon. As one of the co-chairs of this year’s Met Gala, which is themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” Colman showed up and showed out in a gorgeous royal blue look with sparkling gold details, including Boucheron jewels and a luxe OMEGA watch.

Colman outfit had an outfit change on the same red carpet, taking off his first look to reveal a patterned blazer.
If his multiple looks weren't enough proof the actor doesn’t take his role as co-chair lightly, he opened up about what it means to him in a recent video for the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
“I’m recognizing that it means more to me than I even imagined,” Colman admitted in the clip. “It’s someone who’s been creating art and spaces who has knowledge and history, who’s always trying to interrogate who we are, and understanding who’s come before.”
He continued, “You walk into a space, and you get met with some items, some artists, some artisans, people who have defined and redefined themselves, especially when it comes to the Black male experience.”
The Oscar nominee also acknowledged the folks who came before him and made fashion accessible. “I know where I’m standing in history right now, at least my little part of it...my little droplet. If I can point someone’s head back to history to understand how we got here, because it’s not just because I’m here,” he said. “It’s because André Leon Talley was here. It’s because all these other artisans, people, and human beings were here. And so, it’s extraordinary. I think it’s going to be very impactful, and potent, and surprisingly, very emotional.”
Well said and well done, Colman!
