Brat summer may be coming to an end, but let’s be real—Charli XCX’s iconic energy will live on forever. The pop pioneer is currently co-headlining her SWEAT Tour with Troye Sivan, casually making pop culture history with her “360” muses, and hitting the studio with her man, George Daniel. This is pretty much the energy that Charli’s been giving all summer year:

^ Tbh, let me know where I can find a partner like this, thanks!

Anywho! George is a huge part of Charli’s life as her ~fiancée~ and musical collaborator, which means he’ll definitely be around in the Bratosphere. Here’s everything you need to know about Charli XCX’s fiancée, George Daniel.

He’s a Musician and Record Producer

In case you miraculously made it out of the Tumblr era without bumping The 1975’s discography, let me introduce you to the band’s drummer, George. He’s been part of the alternative-pop band alongside Matty Healy since 2002, and they’ve dropped five albums, collaborating with artists like Bleachers, Phoebe Bridgers, and Charli herself.

Aside from Brat, George has produced some Charli bangers, including her remix of Caroline Polachek’s “Welcome to My Island,” “No Rome” with No Rome and The 1975, “Hot Girl” from the Bodies Bodies Bodies soundtrack, and several tracks from her 2022 album, Crash.

During a May 2023 interview with The Sun, Charli opened up about how George has changed her own creative process. “Now that I’m in a relationship with another musician, he’s influenced me a lot with his process and how he and his band work,” she said. “It’s really different to how I work, and that has definitely influenced me and my process.”

Also, this feels like an appropriate spot to leave this very real Charli tweet from 2023:

George and Charli Briefly Met in 2019

The pair reportedly met at GQ’s Men of the Year awards in 2019, where they posed for pics together. In case you were ~wondering~, The 1975 won the publication’s Band of the Year award.

Yes, Charli Has Dropped Songs About George

We can definitely consider George one of Charli’s muses—aside from Julia Fox and Gabbriette Bechtel, ofc—as fans speculate she’s written a few songs about him, like “Welcome to My Island (Remix),” “Everything Is Romantic,” and “Talk Talk.” Charli spoke on the latter in a TikTok video, admitting that the track was inspired by a moment she shared with George in 2020.

“We were at the NME Awards, we were both sat on different tables, and we were like texting each other, but we weren’t hanging out,” she explained. “But we were both looking over at each other—it was very like, one of us would look, and the other one would look away, and then just vice versa.”

“You know, when you just feel like someone is watching you, you can feel a hole burning in the back of your head or something like that. It was very much that moment,” she added.

He and Charli Got Engaged in 2023

The couple announced their engagement in November 2023 with a since-deleted Instagram post with the caption “charli xcx and george daniel fucking for life!!!” Simple, yet effective!

Charli dished about wedding planning during an appearance on Emma Chamberlain’s podcast, Anything Goes—and revealed an iconic detail that will be included at her nuptials with The 1975 drummer. “We’re gonna have this really epic, like cigarette station. And we’re gonna have these people walking around with silver trays of cigarettes,” Charli said. “And our wedding planner is like, ‘Okay, shall we just decide like, you know, the food?’ and we’re like, ‘Fuck it.’ It doesn’t matter. Everyone’s just gonna smoke.”
